Avengers, assemble! The Avengers headquarters are coming to the Disney Parks — and soon, heroes-in-training of all ages can join forces with the likes of Spider-Man and Doctor Strange in an incredibly immersive new land, Avengers Campus.
Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure is a highly anticipated new land coming to Disneyland Resort on June 4, 2021.
Though the grand opening of Avengers Campus — previously set for July 2020 — was delayed due to the pandemic, Disney moved forward with construction, making Avengers Campus a priority project for the theme parks. As of December 2020, we knew that Disney plans to open Avengers Campus in 2021. The new opening date was confirmed in April. So now, fans are eagerly awaiting their chance to visit Avengers Campus on June 4 and beyond.
In this guide to Avengers Campus, we will answer all of your questions about the new land coming to the Southern California Disney theme park destination. You’ll learn all about WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure, Guardians of the Galaxy—Mission: BREAKOUT!, Avengers Headquarters, the Quinjet, and so much more.

About Avengers Campus
“From the futuristic architecture, theatrical lighting, unique audio, creative food, beautiful costuming and innovative merchandise, the land will be an immersive experience that we know our Guests are going to love,” said Disneyland Resort President Ken Potrock.
The Disney Parks Blog has described Avengers Campus as the following:
Avengers Campus invites you to team up with the Avengers and their allies in a fully immersive land at Disney California Adventure park. Avengers Campus is comprised of several heroic locations—each hosted by a different Super Hero or their ally—to share their unique powers, technology and knowledge with recruits.
Official Disneyland Resort Webpage For Avengers Campus
We don’t know the exact date when Avengers Campus will open, but we do know this: Disney is making efforts to publicize it.
The Disneyland Resort official website currently has an entire section dedicated to Avengers Campus. The official web page of the new land links to several other web pages that share information about nearly every element of Avengers Campus. Well, except for the currently unnamed E-ticket attraction coming in the “second phase” of the land’s opening at Disney California Adventure Park.
Below, we’re sharing the official descriptions of the different offerings in Avengers Campus, as well images of the characters, attractions, food, merchandise, and more. Our goal is to provide you with everything we know about Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure so that you have a complete guide to the newest immersive land at Disneyland Resort — and the largest presence of the Avengers, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, in the United States.
Attractions, Adventures, and Things to Do
Though there will technically only be two rides to start and three total later on at Avengers Campus, this land is not lacking in activities. No matter where you turn, this land is bustling with adventure. Here is everything to see, do, and experience at Disney’s Marvel land.
WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure
WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure is the first brand-new attraction coming to Avengers Campus. This immersive ride really will live up to its name. In this attraction, Guests will embark on an adventure alongside Spider-Man — Peter Parker (played by Tom Holland, of course) is even part of the attraction pre-show!
You may want to compare this attraction to game-style rides like Toy Story Midway Mania or Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, but trust us when we say this is so much more than a game. It’s an entirely new experience during which Guests will feel like they are actually helping Spider-Man on a mission to stop the prototype Spider Bots from wreaking havoc. Not an easy job, but definitely a fun one — and Peter Parker knows you’re up for the challenge!
WEB Open House Goes Haywire
Embark on an action-packed adventure alongside the amazing Spider-Man! When Peter Parker’s helpful but otherwise buggy Spider-Bots get stuck in replication mode and escape from a WEB Workshop, Spider-Man must stop the rampaging robots before they wreak total techno-havoc across Avengers Campus. Problem is, they’re rapidly leveling up and becoming tough to beat!Your task? Hop aboard a WEB Slinger vehicle and help weave a frenzied web to trap these friendly neighborhood sidekicks in true Spidey style. It’s up to you to unleash your inner hero and save the Campus from complete chaos!
Perfect for up-and-coming recruits—with no height restrictions.
WEB SLINGERS also has a virtual queue, a new way of waiting to ride an attraction, a system that was introduced for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.
The attraction’s virtual queue is only accessible via the Disneyland mobile app,** and you may only experience the attraction by joining the virtual queue. Similar to Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, virtual queue enrollment times will be twice daily, at 7 a.m. and 12 p.m.
Find more information about the virtual queue here.
Note that this attraction is perfect for heroes-in-training of all ages and there are no height restrictions. We have shared several updates on this attraction and we can’t wait for you to experience it on your first visit to Avengers Campus at Disneyland Resort.
Guardians of the Galaxy—Mission: BREAKOUT!
Though this isn’t a brand-new ride, it did pave the way for the expansion of Marvel at Disney California Adventure. Guardians of the Galaxy—Mission: BREAKOUT! is a Guest-favorite attraction during which you will go on an adventure to help Rocket Raccoon save the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy, who are some of the funniest characters we’ve ever encountered!
Step Inside a Towering Citadel
Taneleer Tivan, a.k.a. the Collector, has brought his unique collection of fantastical fauna, relics and species from across the cosmos to earth for the very first time. He offers to show you his newest acquisition… the Guardians of the Galaxy.Star-Lord, Gamora, Rocket, Drax and Groot are held captive in electrified glass cases that dangle perilously over an abyss.
Join a Rockin’ Rescue Mission
When Rocket escapes, he commandeers a gantry lift and enlists your help on a harrowing mission to rescue his fellow Guardians. Prepare to unleash intergalactic mayhem from the top of the fortress to the bottom, as one of Star-Lord’s awesome mixtapes blasts a classic tune! With incredible special effects, appearances by popular characters, music inspired by the soundtracks from the movies, thrilling free-fall drop sequences and 6 different storylines to experience, this adventure breaks out all the big thrills!
Though many kids do enjoy this ride, it does have a height restriction: you must be 40″ or taller to ride, and it is often enjoyed by older kids, teens, and adults.
Ancient Sanctum
Another experience for all ages at Avengers Campus is Ancient Sanctum, something entirely unique to the Disneyland Resort. These are the ruins of a mysterious ancient place where, currently, Doctor Strange is showcasing the mysteries of the Multiverse. If you are a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and Doctor Strange in particular, this is most certainly a place for you to check out.
Encounter the Master of the Mystic Arts
You and your fellow recruits have been invited to visit the Avengers Campus, meet Doctor Strange and open your eyes to the mysteries of the multiverse. Don’t miss this once-in-infinite-lifetimes chance to learn the secrets of the mystic arts. You’ll feel like time will stop when you come face to face with Doctor Strange and he demonstrates his mystical abilities. Who knows, someday you may need this knowledge to defend the earth, and our reality, from threats beyond your imagination!
An Ancient Site, Hidden for Centuries
For as long as anyone can remember, rumors of unexplained events and energies have emanated from a remote location in the hills outside Los Angeles. In the late 1940s, a Stark Industries complex was built on the location. Decades later, Tony Stark invited Doctor Strange to the Avengers Campus to enlighten recruits about the mystic arts. Doctor Strange suspended the area’s cloaking spells and revealed the Sanctum to the world.
Come, discover for yourself what has been hidden for centuries. See the ancient ruins and learn from Doctor Strange about the amazing Orb of Cagliostro.
The Orb is known to be especially active at night. Visit after dark and you might see the Sanctum flowing with magical energy!
If you are a Doctor Strange superfan, you will not want to miss this experience. Part character encounter, part show, Sanctum will give you the closest look at the Mystic Arts you have ever seen — unless, of course, you have been on a Marvel Day at Sea aboard Disney Cruise Line.
Avengers Headquarters
Are you pumped to encounter all of your favorite super heroes — Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, to be specific — at Avengers Campus? Well, when you visit this land, you can’t miss Avengers Headquarters. This is the place where you will get to encounter the actual Avengers. Located in the center of the land with an actual Quinjet, which will later take Guests on the adventure of a lifetime.
There’s no mistaking Avengers Headquarters at the center of the land. Look for the signature Avengers logo, the Quinjet on the roof, and Avengers themselves springing into action to head off threats from various foes. – D23
The Avengers Stand Ready
The gleaming Quinjet that rests high atop the Avengers Headquarters building is bound to attract attention—maybe even some unwanted attention. There are reports that the villain known as Taskmaster is plotting a break-in, and the Avengers are on high alert. Brave Super Heroes like Black Widow, Iron Man, Captain America and Captain Marvel greet new recruits and scan the horizon for potential threats.
If Taskmaster and his gang of mercenaries do appear, our heroes are ready to defend the Avengers Headquarters, which would surely lead to an action-packed confrontation on the rooftop and all over the building. You’ll definitely want to be there to see what happens.
Who knows, new recruit, maybe someday you will join the Avengers on their next adventure!
As mentioned above, the Avengers Headquarters building is one of the places in this new land where some pretty amazing entertainment will take place. One thing we have learned about Avengers Campus is we have to expect the unexpected and always be prepared to look up — you never know who you will see running on the rooftops of the land’s buildings.
Here is a list of all of the Marvel heroes that have been confirmed for Avengers Campus at DCA:

Quinjet and E-Ticket Attraction
Atop Avengers Headquarters is a Quinjet, and a life-size version at that, as you can see in the image below featuring Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro. This Quinjet will take Guests on an epic ride where they will fight alongside the Avengers in an E-ticket attraction opening at the Campus at a later date. Disney has not yet announced when this highly anticipated thrill ride will open at the Disneyland Resort, but we do know that the land was always planned to open in phases, so it will likely be some time before we have the opportunity to experience it.
We’re inventing an all-new ride system for this,” Walt Disney Imagineering’s Scot Drake said during a New York Comic Con 2019 panel. “The demands of these characters and this experience is forcing us to invent and we’re really excited about that. It’s going to be something like you’ve never seen before…We’re going to transform from this group experience to this individual flight. This is going to be the basis of our own origin story. We’re going to build back up and get to fight alongside with all the Avengers in this epic battle in Wakanda.”
This experience will be like nothing Guests have ever experienced. ALthough it is a simulation, it will feel as though Guests are actually boarding a real Quinket, traveling to Wakanda, and fighting a battle not unlike the ones we have seen in the Avengers films.
Spider-Man Soars Above the Campus
We’d be lying if we said this isn’t the most exciting and awesome element of Avengers Campus. Disney developed a technologically advanced “stuntronic” (stunt animatronic) version of Spider-Man himself that will swing high above the new land. This is yet another reason why Avengers Campus is so amazing — Disney Parks are full of movement and kinetic energy, with something to see everywhere you turn, and the new Marvel land is proof.
Disney shared the following about Spider-Man’s presence in the new land:
At Avengers Campus, guests will find Spider-Man visiting the Worldwide Engineering Brigade, also known as WEB. WEB brings together bright young innovators like Peter Parker who are inventing new technologies that allow everyone to become Super Heroes.
Throughout the day, recruits have the chance to witness Spider-Man swing into action high above Avengers Campus with gravity-defying, acrobatic feats never before seen in a Disney park. Spider-Man will flip 60 to 65 feet in the air above the rooftop of the WEB building. Following those stunning moves, Spider-Man will swing down off the building to ground level to say hello and inspire the “new recruits” he meets on campus.
Guests may also notice that their friendly neighborhood Spider-Man will be wearing a Disney Parks exclusive WEB Slinger suit.

Disney has shared that there are many firsts at the Disneyland Resort (and at Disney Parks in general) thanks to Avengers Campus:
- WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure is the first Disney ride-through attraction to feature this iconic Super Hero.

Avengers Campus Is a Must-Visit
It’s clear that Walt Disney Imagineering’s latest feat will live up to Guest expectations. Avengers Campus has been in the works for some time now, and ever since Disney shared the official name of the new land at D23 Expo in 2019, fans have become increasingly excited to set foot on the Campus and encounter Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
Our mission at Inside the Magic is to share the latest news about Disney Parks and Marvel — the fact that Avengers Campus blends the two seamlessly is just as exciting for us as it is for you and even the Imagineers who are bringing the land to life.
We know that there are still so many questions that fans have about the new land. When will it actually open? Will there be reservations required like when Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened at Disneyland Park? We will answer all of those questions and more as soon as Avengers Campus opens, Disney shares more details, and we can experience this new land ourselves.
We’ll keep Inside the Magic updated with the latest information on Avengers Campus as soon as it is released.
