Calling all Avengers and Marvel fans! We now have an official opening date for the highly anticipated Marvel-themed land Avengers Campus coming to Disneyland Resort.
The new Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company Bob Chapek announced that this new addition to Disney California Adventure park at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, Avengers Campus, will open to the public on July 18, 2020.
The news was announced today at the Walt Disney Company’s annual meeting held in Raleigh, North Carolina.
More Information About Avengers Campus
We now have even more information about what is coming to Avengers Campus. We now know all of the super heroes that guests will be able to see and encounter within the new land:
You may have heroic encounters with Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Black Widow, Doctor Strange, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Panther, the Dora Milaje, Thor and even villains like Loki. We’re excited to also share that Ant-Man and The Wasp will be making their first appearances in the park, and Iron Man himself will be debuting his new armor in Avengers Campus: the Mark 80.
You may even have the chance to witness Spider-Man swinging into action high above Avengers Campus with gravity-defying, acrobatic feats never seen before in a Disney theme park.
…
Finally, every hero needs a formidable villain to fight… the villainous Taskmaster, who will have a role in the upcoming film “Black Widow,” will be seen for the first time at a Disney park at Avengers Campus. Taskmaster’s abilities include photographic reflexes. Taskmaster can replicate Super Hero moves, making this new villain a balanced foe for the Campus heroes.
Of course, when Disney mentions witnessing Spider-Man swinging into action, they are talking about the all-new stutronic that Dinsey California Adventure will have at Avengers Campus. And how amazing is it that Taskmaster is also coming to the new land?
Disney also shared more information about Pym Test Kitchen and Pym Testing Lab (themed after Ant Man and the Wasp), the Doctor Strange area coming to the land, and the all-new W.E.B. Suppliers merchandise location.
Pym Test Kitchen is a food innovation science lab where the food and drinks tell a story. Just as Ant-Man and The Wasp use “Pym Particles” to grow and shrink just about anything, Pym Technologies applies this innovative science to the creation of shareable bites, inventive-sized entrees and sweet treats. You will be able to taste-test such items as the Impossible™ plant-based large and micro meatballs with pasta, or the “Pym-ini,” a panini served by the slice or as a long, multi-portion sandwich.
Adjacent to the Pym Test Kitchen, an oversized beer can overhead signals that grown-up beverage tastings are available at Pym Tasting Lab. Adults can order a craft beer, ranging from a blood orange hefeweizen to an amber lager or try one of the Pym Research Staff’s Pym Particle-infused cocktail experiments.
At a nearby ancient sanctum, Doctor Strange will train recruits in the mystic arts by bringing this ancient sanctum to life with powerful spells. At night, the area glows even more vividly with majestic colors and lights, pulsating with mystic energy.
The WEB Suppliers store is where you will find the latest WEB inventions, including interactive Spider-Bots much like the ones you will see in the new attraction, WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure. Each Spider-Bot has a remote control, and all eight articulated legs move forward and backward. Best of all, you can tap into your inner WEB inventor by customizing your Spider-Bot with tactical upgrades to harness the powers and styles of favorite Super Heroes, including Black Panther, Iron Man and Black Widow, as well as Ant-Man and The Wasp.
Other must-have items at WEB Suppliers include a specially-designed backpack to carry Spider-Bots when they are not in action, Spider-Man light goggles, a take-home spider web kit and Funko Pop! vinyl figurines of Spider-Man and Iron Man.
There’s also going to be a Campus Supply Pod where guests can get official Avengers Campus gear, the Shawarma Palace where fans can try the iconic snack the Avengers love so much, a new Terran Eats food cart nearby Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!, and of course two new attractions: a Spider-Man attraction opening when the land opens, and an E-Ticket attraction that we don’t yet know the name of (but we expect it to be out of this world).
It’s safe to say Avengers Campus will offer guests more than they ever dreamed of. Disney California Adventure Vice President Patrick Finnegan put it quite simply and bluntly, “Avengers Campus really is going to blow people away.”
It will be so immersive that Disney even changed their recruitment process. All cast members working in the area will have their own superhero names and back story. They will be a part of the Marvel Universe coming to life right before people’s eyes. You can read more about that by clicking the link below.
