This is a spoiler-free zone, but in its brief 39-minute debut, the series has already answered numerous questions about Boba Fett’s (Temuera Morrison) life between the Sarlacc pit incident in Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi (1983) and The Mandalorian era, about five years later.

Before December 29, 2021, Star Wars fans last saw Jango Fett’s “son” in The Mandalorian Season 2 finale episode (“Chapter 16: The Rescue”) when he deposited Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal), Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff), Koska Reeves (Sasha Banks), and Cara Dune (Gina Carano) on an Imperial ship to rescue Grogu (AKA “Baby Yoda”) from Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) and his Dark Trooper droids.

Then, as proven in the episode’s post credits scene, the iconic bounty hunter and Shand made their way back to Tatooine where they stormed Jabba the Hutt’s palace, killed Bib Fortuna (Michael Carter), and set out to rule the desert planet’s criminal underworld for themselves.
Now, we know what happens next and reactions are rolling in on social media.

Twitter user Gary had more thoughts, specifically about the seeming dichotomy between the thrilling flashback sequences that are filling in Star Wars plot holes and the slightly less exciting “present day” moments fans have seen so far in The Mandalorian’s “next chapter”:
Enjoyed episode 1 of The Book of Boba Fett.
Solid. Not outstanding. But solid. More interested in the flashback stuff atm as the “present” felt a bit lacking.
But hey, sexy Twileks for whoever you are!

Tori was harsher, referencing Greedo’s last word, the Huttese “Macklunkey” — roughly translated “This will be the end of you” — in the infamous Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope (1977) “Han shot first” scene:
I give the first ep of the Book of Boba Fett a solid Macklunkey out of 10
She continued the thread, writing:
Nothing happened, I don’t want to watch this lol

Despite the somewhat tepid overall social media reception to the much-hyped show, fans were immensely complimentary to Disney Legend Ming-Na Wen. One Twitter user, Nathan, wrote:

Another fan, Zenith, also expressed appreciation for the actress in a post that contains minor spoilers for The Book of Boba Fett Season 1, Episode 1 (“Chapter 1: Stranger In a Strange Land”).

It is, however, worth noting that some Star Wars fans are already sold on “The Mandalorian Season 2.5″. Natalie wrote:

The premiere episode of The Book of Boba Fett featured a great deal of setup for the next six episodes of the series.
As the show continues, many viewers are expecting cameos from a number of popular Star Wars characters, such as Grogu (AKA “Baby Yoda”), Emilia Clarke’s Qi’ra and Crimson Dawn, Pascal’s Djarin, Timothy Olyphant’s Marshal Cobb Vanth, and, of course, a young Han Solo — CGI, of course — but, Rodriguez, Favreau, and their team unsurprisingly have yet to confirm any details regarding special appearances by Star Wars fan-favorites.
