When The Book of Boba Fett — billed by creator Jon Favreau as “the next chapter” in the Mando-Verse and as “The Mandalorian Season 2.5″ — debuts on Disney+ this Wednesday, December 29, Star Wars fans will have gone 376 days without a live-action series.

The Book of Boba Fett, which will star Temuera Morrison as the iconic bounty hunter and Ming-Na Wen as mercenary Fennec Shand, was officially announced during The Mandalorian Season 2 finale episode post credits scene.

After Fett deposited Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal), Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff), Koska Reeves (Sasha Banks), and Cara Dune (Gina Carano) to rescue Grogu (AKA “Baby Yoda”) from Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) and his Dark Trooper droids, he and Shand seemingly made their way back to Tatooine.
In the surprise post credits scene, the Kaminoan clone and his right-hand woman stormed Jabba the Hutt’s former palace, making quick work of Bib Fortuna (Michael Carter) and taking Jabba’s throne for themselves.

Now, we’re about to see what the hype is all about — showrunner Robert Rodriguez has promised that the series will “overdeliver,” making The Mandalorian look like “nothing” — and fans are absolutely beside themselves with excitement.

When the legendary Star Wars character reemerges in The Book of Boba Fett, fans are expecting cameos from a number of popular Star Wars characters, such as Grogu, Emilia Clarke’s Qi’ra and Crimson Dawn, Pascal’s Djarin, Timothy Olyphant’s Marshal Cobb Vanth, and, of course, a young Han Solo — CGI, of course — Rodriguez, Favreau, and their team unsurprisingly have yet to confirm any details regarding special appearances by Star Wars fan-favorites.
