In addition to the fact that Grogu and his “father”, bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal), were split up for the first time since we met them on November 12, 2019, Mandalorian viewers had come to terms with the fact that Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker (CGI Mark Hamill) is back in the Star Wars story during the original trilogy era — and he doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon, as he became Grogu’s new Jedi Master.

Skywalker arrived on the scene with his X-wing — and a green lightsaber — just in time to save Grogu and Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal), Cara Dune (Gina Carano), Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen), Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff), and Nite Owl warrior Koska Reeves (Sasha Banks) from Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) and his squad of Dark Trooper droids, who were just about to break down the doors to the bridge of Gideon’s Imperial cruiser.

Then, as if there weren’t already enough surprises in the Season 2 finale, an unexpected post credits scene was followed by the words “The Book of Boba Fett – Coming December 2021″.
For anyone who has ever seen Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi (1983), the scene took place at a very familiar Tatooine location — Jabba the Hutt’s palace. It featured bounty hunter Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) and Wen’s Shand, who have now been confirmed to be the stars of the upcoming “next chapter” of The Mandalorian saga.

Now, details about a scene from The Book of Boba Fett — which debuts on Disney+ on December 29, 2021 — have reportedly been leaked and it seems that fans absolutely have a lot to look forward to.
The artwork [below] shows Fett poised for battle atop a light-colored Rancor. What is not immediately clear from the leaked Star Wars scene is if the iconic bounty hunter is going into combat with or against the Rancor, though it does appear they may have teamed up.

A report about the Mandalorian spinoff leak notes:
In the scene, Boba Fett will be encountering and quite possibly taming/controlling a rancor. Our source was not completely positive on whether Fett is fighting the beast or controlling it, but Fett is standing on the back of the Rancor’s neck and looks like he’s riding and controlling it, as it tears through a complex/city street on what is likely Tatooine

It is important to keep in mind that none of these details have been confirmed by Lucasfilm and the concept art was created specifically for Star Wars News Net based on the description of the scene — it is not officially from Lucasfilm or The Walt Disney Company.
Nonetheless, the action is this reported scene tracks with what Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, and Book of Boba Fett showrunner — and Mandalorian director — Robert Rodriguez have previously said.

At one point recently, Rodriguez shared:
“Yeah, I can’t say anything about that, sworn to silence. I can say I’m working on it and I can tell you it’s gonna blow your mind. You saw him arrive in my episode of The Mandalorian, that was nothing. That was nothing. I can talk it up all I want because I know it’s gonna deliver, I know it’s gonna over-deliver.”
