During The Mandalorian Season 2, Star Wars fans were introduced to a number of new characters, including the live-action debut of Star Wars: The Clone Wars fan-favorite Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff).

When bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu (AKA “Baby Yoda”) first encountered Bo-Katan on Trask in “Chapter 11: The Heiress”, the character was joined by two of Bo-Katan’s Mandalorian Nite Owl warriors, Koska Reeves (Sasha Banks/Mercedes Varnado) and Axe Woves (Simon Kassianides).

Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica, Oculus) has previously confirmed that Bo-Katan will return to Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni’s Mandalorian saga, and also indicated that Kassianides will reprise his role as Woves.
WWE Superstar Banks, for her part, garnered massive support from fans earlier this year amid some controversial online activity. The actress and pro wrestler recently teased a return to the Star Wars franchise online, delighting her supporters, but has now confirmed that she will not appear in the upcoming The Mandalorian Season 3.

Banks recently shared:
“First of all, thanks for trying to get that out [after being asked about Season 3], but I’m not on the next season. But it was incredible being on The Mandalorian on Star Wars. To be on a franchise that is so huge and so loved, just look at the reception from fans outside of the WWE Universe. It was the best feeling of all time. The projection of that show was overwhelming. I legit felt like I was in a galaxy so far, far away. I felt like I was on a different planet.
“It was something I will always take with me and I took so much of what I learned from acting with them and being with so many great stars to WWE. It really helped my confidence as well when I came back from doing The Mandalorian two years ago.

The actress went on to discuss the now-famous return of Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker (CGI Mark Hamill) in The Mandalorian Season 2 finale episode, “Chapter 16: The Rescue”. She appeared in the scene on Moff Gideon’s (Giancarlo Esposito) Imperial cruiser alongside Djarin, Grogu, Kryze, Cara Dune (Gina Carano), and Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen).

Banks gushed:
“I was in the scene as well, so I had to know a little bit, I read the script. But it was so cool watching it as well because every time The Mandalorian came on, it was always on a Friday so it was right before I went to work at SmackDown.
“I was watching as a fan with everybody else and freaking out even though I’m on the show and then I walked to work. Everybody backstage was freaking out, and it’s just so cool to see your co-workers freak out about something that’s not just wrestling. It’s usually, ‘Great match!’ or ‘Great segment!’ Instead it’s, ‘You’re on freaking Star Wars, The Mandalorian.’ That episode was so cool and I was like, ‘Yep, of course I am.'”

Despite rumored debut dates, the debut of Grogu’s official yellow lightsaber, little is known about the third season of Favreau and Filnoi’s hit Star Wars show. It is likely, however, to follow the ongoing Darksaber storyline.

Both Moff Gideon and Bo-Katan have a vested interest in obtaining the ancient black-bladed weapon from Djarin, who won it in battle while rescuing Grogu from the Moff and his Dark Trooper droids. Wielding the saber makes the bounty hunter the de facto ruler of Mandalore.

As for what’s next in The Mandalorian saga, Temuera Morrison (Boba Fett) and Ming-Na Wen will star in The Book of Boba Fett, streaming December 29, 2021. Favreau has referred to this series as “the next chapter” of The Mandalorian, rather than a true spinoff, and cameos by characters like Djarin, Marshal Cobb Vanth (Timothy Olyphant), and even Han Solo (CGI Harrison Ford) have been rumored, but remain unconfirmed at this time.
