Jeremy Renner Calls 'Avengers' Costars "Dirtbags" For Stealing MCU Props - Inside the Magic

Jeremy Renner has become a Marvel Cinematic Universe staple, appearing as Clint Barton/Hawkeye in Thor (2011), The Avengers (2012), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), Captain America: Civil War (2016), and Avengers: Endgame (2019).

Furthermore, the actor is set to star in his own Disney+ Original series, Hawkeye, debuting on November 24, 2021.

Recently, while making the press rounds for his upcoming MCU Phase Four show, Renner hilariously called out his “dirtbag” Avengers franchise costars for stealing various props from Marvel movie sets — Chris Hemsworth (Thor), for example, is famous for taking various Mjolnir props.

While appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Renner said:

“Over the decade or so of doing ‘The Avengers’ and all that sort of stuff, I never took anything because they asked us not to, and my mom taught me well, so I never took anything. All the other Avengers took stuff, those dirtbags! They stole something. Thor’s got his hammer.”

The Avenger was clearly joking about his costars’ on-set thefts, but it is true that many Marvel Cinematic Universe alums have stolen various prop pieces — the same thing occurs, unsurprisingly, in the Star Wars franchise, with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) leading lady Felicity Jones admitting she took Jyn Erso’s boots for her own closet!

Renner’s most recent MCU appearance was as a voice actor in animated series What If…?, which recently finished airing its first season. He was joined by fellow Avengers franchise stars  Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/the Hulk), Josh Brolin (Thanos), Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter), Paul Rudd (Scott Lang/Ant-Man), Natalie Portman (Jane Foster), Michael Douglas (Dr. Hank Pym), Michael B. Jordan (Erik “Killmonger” Stevens), Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Stephen Strange), and late actor Chadwick Boseman (T’Challa/Black Panther).

Marvel Studios’ “Hawkeye” stars Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, who teams up with another well-known archer from the Marvel comics, Kate Bishop, played by Hailee Steinfeld. The cast also includes Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Zahn McClarnon, Brian d’Arcy James and newcomer Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez. “Hawkeye” is helmed by Rhys Thomas and directing duo Bert and Bertie. “Hawkeye” debuts on Disney+ Nov. 24, 2021.

Black Widow (2021) star Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova) has also confirmed she will reprise her role in Hawkeye.
