Last week, news broke that Marvel Cinematic Universe star Scarlett Johansson is suing The Walt Disney Company for a cool $50 million, following the release of her solo prequel film, Black Widow (2021), which is set between the events of Captain America: Civil War (2016) and Avengers: Infinity War (2018).

The lawsuit alleges that Disney is in breach of contract for releasing the first Phase 4 Marvel movie simultaneously in theaters and on the Disney+ streaming Premier Access tier for $29.99.

Per the suit, Johansson had a clause added to her contract in 2019 — the year Disney+ launched — that Black Widow would release exclusively in theaters. This amendment was due to the fact that her salary was based largely on box office sales.

Now, amid the ongoing controversy, other actors — including leading lady Emma Stone from Cruella (2021) — who appeared in pandemic-era Disney releases are reportedly looking into their legal options.

One new MCU standout, however, is clearly not following in Johansson’s footsteps. British actress Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova) made her debut in Black Widow and has confirmed that she will be making an immediate return to the Marvel universe in Jeremy Renner’s upcoming Hawkeye series, which is set to debut on Disney+ on November 24.

Pugh shared on Instagram:

November 24th..I now want a bow and arrow. Muchos love to @haileesteinfeld and @jeremyrenner, can’t wait to see you there #Hawkeye

This is exciting news for Marvel fans, who found Pugh’s performance as Belova to be one of the bright spots of the “low stakes” Black Widow standalone film.

While many assumed Belova would appear in Hawkeye in a bid to avenge her “sister” Natasha’s death in Avengers: Endgame (2019), this confirmation is a thrilling step forward for Pugh’s future in the MCU.

The official description of the movie reads:

Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down [Taskmaster and Dreykov (Ray Winstone)], Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger.

Scarlett Johansson reprises her role as Natasha/Black Widow, Florence Pugh stars as Yelena, David Harbour portrays Alexei/The Red Guardian, and Rachel Weisz is Melina. “Black Widow” — the first film in Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe — is directed by Cate Shortland and produced by Kevin Feige.
