Now, Marvel fans are getting one last chance to hear the late, great actor’s voice in a Marvel project. Prior to his passing, Boseman recorded lines for the newest Marvel Phase 4 streaming series, What If…?.
The show imagines what would have happened if various key events in the Marvel Cinematic Universe had happened differently. What if, for example, Peggy Carter had become Captain America — Captain Carter, in this case — instead of Steve Rogers? Or, what if Marvel Zombies, like a zombified Scarlet Witch/Wanda Maximoff, from the Marvel comic book universe had infiltrated the MCU.
Now, IMDb has confirmed that Boseman will appear in not one episode of What If…? like most characters, but four. He will seemingly be in Season 1, Episode 2, Episode 5, Episode 8, and Episode 9 as T’Challa/Star-Lord/Black Panther.
What If…? flips the script on the MCU, reimagining famous events from the films in unexpected ways. Coming to Disney+ in Summer 2021, Marvel Studios’ first animated series focuses on different heroes from the MCU, featuring a voice cast that includes a host of stars who reprise their roles. The series is directed by Bryan Andrews; Ashley Bradley is head writer.
Chadwick Boseman’s last live-action appearance came as Levee in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom (2020), a role for which he was posthumously nominated for an Academy Award.
Are you looking forward to hearing Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther in one final MCU series?
