Originally breaking through as Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones (2011-2019), actor Pedro Pascal quickly became one of the most popular stars in Hollywood with iconic performances as Din Djarin in the Star Wars TV show The Mandalorian (2019-present) and Joel Miller in The Last of Us (2023-present), quickly becoming known as “internet daddy” for the way he took care of Ellie (Bella Ramsey) and Grogu (AKA Baby Yoda).

On top of this, Pascal earned critical acclaim for playing Javi Gutierrez in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (2022) with Nicolas Cage and Javier Peña in Narcos (2015-2017), as well as his appearances on Saturday Night Live (1975-present) and The Graham Norton Show (2007-present).

Needless to say, star Pedro Pascal is an incredibly busy man, especially if rumors that he is about to appear in a Pirates of the Caribbean movie are true. However, it looks like it is about to get much busier since it seems like he can add Marvel Comics to the long list of franchises he is a part of.

According to a report from Daniel Richtman, an entertainment journalist and scooper, Pedro Pascal has been offered to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic) of the Fantastic Four.

Known for his brilliant scientific mind, Reed Richards has the ability to stretch his body in infinite ways. He has previously been played by Miles Teller in Fant4stic (2015) and Ioan Gruffuff in Fantastic Four (2005) and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007).

Fans have been waiting for Richards to join the MCU because he is one of the pillars of the Avengers in Marvel Comics alongside Tony Stark (Iron Man) and Steve Rogers (Captain America). More importantly, he is the leader of the Fantastic Four, which also includes Sue Storm (The Invisible Woman), Johnny Storm (The Human Torch), and Ben Grimm (The Thing).

Pedro Pascal certainly has the talent and range to play Reed Richards in Fantastic Four. Audiences have seen him tackle comedic action in Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017), drama in If Beale Street Could Talk (2018), and even have a villainous turn in Wonder Woman 1984 (2020). Unfortunately, this doesn’t mean fans think he’s the right choice.

Fans Aren’t Convinced

While Pedro Pascal is indeed good at what he does, many fans are confused about his potential casting as Reed Richards. This is partially because Marvel Studios already had John Krasinski play the character in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness (2022), but numerous other actors have been named for the part, including Adam Driver and Jake Gyllenhaal. On top of this, numerous fan castings have been pitched, including Rahul Kohli, Matt Smith, Dev Patel, and more.

However, there have been other reports stating that multiple actors have turned down the role due to Sue Storm being the center of the story, not Reed Richards. However, most fans think this is a good thing because “she is the heart and soul of the Fantastic Four.”

On top of this, many fans think he’ll be too busy with The Mandalorian season 4 and The Last of Us season 2, as well as upcoming projects like Gladiator 2 (2024), to take on the responsibility of Reed Richards. However, it’s worth noting that he will only be providing Din Djarin’s voice in The Mandalorian, and his time with The Last of Us will soon be up, as most gamers know.

Still, it stinks not seeing your fan cast come to life. However, this isn’t the fault of Pedro Pascal. Pascal is an unbelievably talented actor who has proven he can handle multiple complex roles. Let’s see what exciting, new energy he can bring to Reed Richards in Fantastic Four.
