The LEGO Star Wars Boba Fett’s Starship 75312 set is currently available for just $39.99 — a 20% savings off of it’s original cost — at both Walmart and Amazon.

The controversy with the set started in June 2021 when astute fans noticed that the name of the LEGO product did not include “Slave I,” as expected. This was somewhat surprising because ever since The Walt Disney Company bought Lucasfilm from George Lucas in 2012, the names of iconic characters and ships within the franchise — like the Millennium Falcon, plus Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill)Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), and Han Solo (Harrison Ford) — have been left intact.

The name change angered many Star Wars fans, and even some former Star Wars franchise actors, including Mark Anthony Austin who played the legendary bounty hunter in Lucas’s special edition of Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.

Last summer, he took to Twitter to post:

When applying for personalized plates for my car the DMV would not allow “Slave1“. Okay I understand. Had to try. But I get it.

This #disney idiocy however. Not buying it. Not conforming to the Mouse, no siree. Not gonna happen.

When I was growing up I loved #disney. No more.

The official description of the vehicle reads:

A powerful pursuit craft made famous by Jango Fett in the days of the Republic, this ship was inherited by Boba Fett for his career as a bounty hunter. The aged but effective ship is loaded with hidden defensive and offensive weaponry and equipment, and has a reputation earned from decades of successfully capturing fugitives.

Prior to Firespray’s recent appearance in Mandalorian spinoff The Book of Boba Fett — in which Fett (Temuera Morrison) and mercenary assassin Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen) used the ship to revisit the infamous Sarlacc pit from Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi (1983) — fans last saw it in The Mandalorian Season 2 when Fett and Shand joined forces with Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal), Cara Dune (Gina Carano), Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff), and Koska Reeves (Sasha Banks) to rescue Grogu (AKA “Baby Yoda”) from Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) and his Dark Trooper squadron.

It is likely that Firespray will continue to play a role in the final two episodes of the seven-episode first season of The Book of Boba Fett, as Djarin — who made his reappearance in the Star Wars universe in the aptly titled “Chapter 5: The Return of the Mandalorian” — goes to war alongside Tatooine’s new Daimyo to fight the Pyke Syndicate.

The starship may also show up in both The Mandalorian Season 3 and Ahsoka.
