Jurassic World Rebirth (2025) is just six months away.
Directed by Gareth Edwards (2014’s Godzilla, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), with a screenplay by David Koepp (Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park), the seventh cinematic installment in the long-running series, whose six films have grossed a combined $6 billion worldwide, promises to be the start of “a new Jurassic era”, with all-new characters, locations, and storylines.
The film, one of four upcoming Jurassic sequels, follows covert operations expert Zora Bennett (played by Marvel Cinematic Universe legend Scarlett Johansson), who’s sent on a top-secret mission with a team of specialists to acquire genetic material (DNA) from “the three most colossal creatures across land, sea and air”.

Coupled with the fact the sequel has filmed in “unique infinite-horizon water tanks suitable for large scale SFX and underwater shooting” in Malta Film Studios, this has fueled speculation that the franchise will finally introduce the ocean-dwelling Megalodon, which is essentially a gigantic prehistoric Great White Shark.
So far, the creature has only appeared in the park management simulation video game sequel “Jurassic World Evolution 2”. As for the film series, the three Jurassic World installments included the Mosasaurus, another super-sized aquatic marine creature.

While the franchise has featured underwater sequences (Jurassic Park III‘s Spinosaurus boat attack, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom‘s Isla Nublar lagoon dive), there has yet to be a full underwater event with one of these prehistoric beasts of the deep.
But now, with Scarlett Johansson’s Zora Bennett attempting to extract DNA from a “colossal creature” that lives in the ocean, fans are hoping Rebirth will spend some quality time below the surface.
While one of “the three most colossal creatures” could be a Mosasaurus (the Jurassic films often take liberties with dinosaur sizes), a new production image from the set of the film shows the jaws of a Megalodon in a South American bar. I’ve had some sleep I still think my theory is possible I do need to clarify: I don’t necessarily think we’ll see a living Meg in Jurassic World Rebirth; the jaws would tease that extinct Cenozoics are back and we might see others (like big snek) appear on “the island”.
to 3 AM Evo, this theory, as crazy as it is… seems pretty legit.

While this is just a fossil and therefore doesn’t prove that a live version of the Megalodon will appear in Rebirth, given the speculation surrounding the film’s journey into the deep due to the synopsis, it sounds like we’ll be seeing a massive aquatic beast of some kind either way.
