Johnny Depp is one of the best-known and most versatile actors in Hollywood. He has starred in a wide variety of films including Sweeney Todd, Alice in Wonderland, Secret Window, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, 21 Jump Street, The Lone Ranger, Public Enemies, and more.
According to a report that discussed the secrets behind Pirates of the Caribbean, it was revealed that Depp was actually the mastermind behind Sparrow’s iconic gold teeth. In fact, Depp went as far as visiting a dentist to get extra gold teeth implants as a “bargaining tool”. Per the report:
Captain Jack Sparrow is portrayed as having gold teeth in the film. All good Pirates need some gold teeth. They were actually Depp’s idea. He predicted that executives would want fewer gold teeth than he envisioned. As such, he went to his dentist and asked them to implant extra gold teeth as a bargaining tool.
The execs liked what they saw and Sparrow’s final number of gold teeth is what Depp envisioned from the start.
And one Pirates of the Caribbean fan and movie lover took to IMDB to share this fun fact, as well, writing:
Johnny Depp’s character, Captain Jack, is portrayed as having gold teeth in the film. This is actually backed up by plastic surgeon and YouTuber Lorry Hill, who examined Depp’s teeth and explained that although he never had his teeth whitened or veneers, the actor has had gold caps:
“I don’t think Johnny has ever had veneers or even teeth whitening. What he does have is a proclivity towards getting gold caps. They’re literally just a little piece of gold that fits over the tooth. Basically used for decorative purposes. Johnny really adores this look.”
It’s safe to say that Johnny Depp has a love for his characters and the roles that he plays, and when he has a vision, he will do anything to ensure that vision comes to life!
Depp had originally filed a lawsuit against the UK Sun’s publisher, News Group Newspapers, and Sun executive editor Dan Wootton regarding a specific article in which cited that Depp acted on domestic abuse toward ex-wife Heard.
Depp denied the domestic violence claims from the start and two of his exes, Winona Ryder and Vanessa Paradis, even came to his defense at various points throughout the libel trial against the British tabloid.
