During the November 12, 2021 Disney+ Day, Marvel Studios and The Walt Disney Company — as expected — dropped new footage from the upcoming MCU Hawkeye series starring Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye/Clint Barton) and Hailee Steinfeld (Kate Bishop).
Perhaps even more exciting than Cox’s official debut, however, is what it portends for the future of Netflix’s Daredevil cast in Kevin Feige’s Marvel Cinematic Universe.
When the series ended on October 19, 2018, many Marvel fans were disappointed. Over the course of three seasons, Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page, Elden Henson’s Foggy Nelson, and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk/Kingpin had become fan favorites.
Last year, Disney finally got the rights to Daredevil characters and, ever since, rumors have abounded that Cox’s version of attorney Murdock is set to make an epic return alongside some of his cohorts — fans were even convinced that the lawyer’s forearms in the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer were Cox’s, though the actor has denied this.
Now, Echo’s appearance is likely to signal the return of D’Onofrio’s popular villain in his MCU debut. In Marvel Comics, Echo is Kingpin’s adopted daughter — and a frequent adversary of Daredevil himself.
Although D’Onofrio didn’t officially appear in the new Hawkeye footage, another Marvel Comics character did. Fra Fee showed up as The Clown/Kazimierz ‘Kazi’ Kazimierczak, indicating that fans can expect the comic universe to bleed over into Hawkeye in a big way, further bolstering the notion that Kingpin will play a key role.

More on Daredevil
You can catch up on all three seasons of Netflix’s Daredevil, which is summarized as:
The first in a planned series of shows detailing the Marvel universe, “Daredevil” follows Matt Murdock, attorney by day and vigilante by night. Blinded in an accident as a child, Murdock uses his heightened senses as Daredevil to fight crime on the streets of New York after the sun goes down. While Murdock’s day job requires him to believe in the criminal justice system, his alter ego does not follow suit, leading him to take the law into his own hands to protect his Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood and the surrounding communities.
