The Force is strong with Disney’s popular attraction Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.
Both Disneyland and Walt Disney World Guests cannot wait to join the Resistance in an epic battle against the First Order, in the high-tech, immersive experience like Disney fans had never seen before.
But what happens when that incredible technology breaks down or fails? Well, one Guest at Disneyland experienced a very different story on Rise of the Resistance this week.

Based at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance quickly became the hottest (virtual) ticket in town when it debuted in 2019. Guests wishing to experience the attraction need to join the virtual queue by getting a boarding pass via the My Disney Experience App — the official app for Disneyland Resort.
At 7 a.m. and 12 p.m. PT daily, Disneyland Guests race to attempt to secure a boarding pass for the Star Wars-themed ride, which features sequel trilogy characters like Rey (Daisy Ridley), Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), Finn (John Boyega), Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), and the adorable droid BB-8.
Once Guests successfully receive their boarding pass, they can look forward to an amazing attraction in a galaxy far far away. With multiple rooms, numerous animatronics, and incredible surprises, the ride relies heavily on an array of technology – but often goes ‘down’.

Disneyland Guest Hastin posted a photo on Twitter showing a test screen in the detention cell scene, which usually features Guests’ first of several encounters with villain Kylo Ren, who will activate his distinctive red crossguard lightsaber:

The photo shows a very different detention cell experience, with Kylo Ren being replaced by a blank test screen. This would certainly take away from the determination of Guests to escape the detention cell and reach their travel pods.
Guests have already been discussing on social media the continual breakdowns of the popular ride, especially in Walt Disney World where Guests can purchase Lightning Lane to skip the standby queue. After paying $15 to ride the attraction, Guests express disappointment when certain features do not work.
Disney CEO Bob Chapek announced that the popular FastPass+ service at the Florida Disney Park will be permanently retiring, with the new digital planning tool Disney Genie launching on October 19.
