Guests have already begun to use the Lightning Lane perk that the app offers.  Walt Disney World Resort has been missing FastPass+ since the Parks reopened during the pandemic. Then, Disney decided to turn their previously free system into a paid one. Disney Genie+ will be a paid system that will charge Disney World Guests $15.00 per person per day to utilize the Lighting Lane queue, which will be the old FastPass+ queue. Guests will be able to pick one return time at a time for select attractions and skip the lines when their turn arrives. There is also an added attraction cost for certain rides at each Park that have their own fee.

For example, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, both Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway and Rise of the Resistance are their own separately ticked and separately priced attraction if Guests want to utilize Lightning Lane. As they are two of the Park’s most popular attractions, this is truly no major surprise.

Rise of the Resistance is the highest-priced attraction, costing Guests $15.00 per person to ride, which is the cost of Lightning Lane altogether. That being said, even at the high price of $15.00, Rise of the Resistance Lightning Lane is sold out for the day. Guests must now either wait in the queue, which is currently sitting at 120 minutes, or not ride.

Reporter Scott Gustin (@ScottGustin) shared how Rise of the Resistance is now sold out on the My Disney Experience app.

From this, we can see that the attraction’s demand only continues to increase, and an added cost of $15.00 per person is not a deterrent for Guests. Interestingly, this morning we saw very short wait times that would have allowed Guests to board an attraction faster than their Lightning Lane return time. Knowing this, Guests can rest assured that the Standby queue is still a viable option on their Disney vacation! Of course, things may change in terms of line length, but as of today, it seems that the new addition does not heavily impact wait times.

Would you pay $15.00 to ride Rise of the Resistance?
