Reportedly, the hotly anticipated Doctor Strange sequel, Sam Raimi’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022) will not only feature Tom Hiddleston’s Loki but more Loki Season 1 favorites as well — including Owen Wilson‘s Agent Mobius M. Mobius of the TVA.

Marvel’s Multiverse is wreaking havoc on the MCU. After the events of the Disney+ series, Loki, the many timelines of Marvel are being explored in What If…? and promise to be totally upended in the film Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021). The Multiverse will finally get top billing alongside Doctor Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in 2022.

It’s been previously reported that Tom Hiddleston will appear as Loki in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Hiddleston is said to be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe crossover film alongside confirmed cast Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch, Benedict Wong as Wong, Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer, and Chiwetel Ejiofor as villain Baron Mordo. Doctor Strange 2 will be directed by Sony’s Spider-Man helmer, Sam Raimi.

Doctor Strange 2 casting rumors
Many of the casting rumors for the Doctor Strange sequel seem to revolve around the Marvel Cinematic Universe streaming series on Disney+. Rumors have swirled that Hayley Atwell could appear in Doctor Strange 2 as Captain Carter, the live-action counterpart to her animated avatar from Disney+ series, Marvel’s What If…?. Additionally, reports have surfaced of a Fox X-Men character possibly doing battle with Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch in the film.

The latest batch of rumors surrounds the Loki series cast reuniting in the Doctor Strange sequel. According to the DisInsider Show, Owen Wilson will be back as Agent Mobius M. Mobius along with Loki variant Sylvie, played by Sophia Di Martino.
While this rumor is not confirmed at the time of this writing, it’s exciting to think about the possibilities of the Loki cast re-assembling in Multiverse of Madness. With Marvel boss Kevin Feige recently indicating that Loki Season 2 will likely be delayed due to the overwhelming amount of Phase 4 projects in Marvel Studios’ pipeline, fans may be treated to a reunion of sorts.

When we last left these characters in the Loki Season 1 finale, Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) had sent Loki (Tom Hiddleston) to an alternate timeline — giving her the opportunity to destroy Kang the Conqueror variant (Jonathan Majors), He Who Remains. In doing so, Sylvie corrupted the Kang variant’s carefully curated Sacred Timeline. When Loki is returned to the TVA, he encounters Agent Mobius (Owen Wilson) who hasn’t the foggiest idea who he is. A Kang statue ominously lurks in the background, replacing the Time Keepers from the earlier timeline.

The Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) trailer featured Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) blundering through a Multiverse altering spell after becoming distracted by Peter Parker (Tom Holland). The Multiverse, as explained by a voiceover from Cumberbatch’s Stephen Strange in the trailer, is a subject they know “…frighteningly little about.” Perhaps the timeline hopping veterans from Loki can teach Doctor Strange a thing or two about the Multiverse in Doctor Strange 2.
Here’s hoping Agent Mobius gets plenty of screen time on a jet ski.
