In a groundbreaking lawsuit, Scarlett Johansson sued The Walt Disney Company for a breach of contract upon the release of Marvel’s Black Widow (2021), the first MCU film to debut during the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result of closed theaters and crippling box office economy, the Mouse House released the Marvel movie on Disney+ under the “Premier Access” paid option.

This move, however, was not stated in Johansson’s original contract, resulting in a $40 million court settlement with Johansson’s estate, the victor.

As a result, this scheduling conflict preventing Scarlett Johannson from starring alongside Chris Evans could be due to her next film with Disney. Nonetheless, there is no official statement from Johansson’s team.
