Marvel Cinematic Universe star Brie Larson has made no secret of her love for the Star Wars franchise. The Captain Marvel actress previously confirmed that she auditioned for all three of Disney’s sequel trilogy films, but failed to make the cut.

Now, it seems that Larson could be getting her wish. A new report indicates that the MCU fan-favorite is in serious talks with Disney and Lucasfilm to play Luke Skywalker’s wife, Mara Jade Skywalker, as the Star Wars universe continues to expand.
Ever since the iconic Jedi Knight — a CGI version of Mark Hamill during the Episode VI: Return of the Jedi (1983) era — made a cameo appearance in Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni’s The Mandalorian Season 2 finale episode, there have been rumors of his Star Wars Legends wife becoming canon.
It’s also interesting to note that, in Timothy Zahn’s Star Wars Expanded Universe Thrawn trilogy novelization, Mara Jade is connected to Grand Admiral Thrawn. The blue-skinned villain was introduced into The Mandalorian saga when Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) and Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) teamed up to defeat Corvus Magistrate Morgan Elsbeth (Diana Lee Inosanto).
He is expected to play a major role in The Mandalorian Season 3 and its interconnected spinoffs — Ahsoka and Rangers of the New Republic — so it would certainly not be surprising if Mara Jade showed up in the current canon sooner rather than later.

Mara Jade has a fascinating checkered past. She went from being an Emperor’s Hand assassin for the Galactic Empire to a Jedi Master in her own right, ultimately sitting on the Jedi Council.
If Mara Jade doesn’t show up in the third season of The Mandalorian, or one of its spinoff series, there is certainly potential for her to appear in the rumored Luke Skywalker and Grogu series that may feature another Marvel actor, Sebastian Stan, as the legendary Jedi.
