Disney Finally Reveals 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Coaster Facade

One of the most anticipated attractions coming to Walt Disney World Resort is at EPCOT, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. 

The Marvel-themed coaster has been one that Guests cannot wait to explore, and after we had the opportunity actually to enter the show buildings, we understood why. The coaster is incredibly massive with tonnes of screens in place, which will surely tell a fantastic story. Guests will undergo a wild amount of twists and turns, and it seems that the built-up hype will surely be worth it. The coaster is located in one of EPCOT’s new neighborhoods, World Discovery. This will be the second Guardians of the Galaxy-themed attraction at Disney Parks in the U.S., the first being Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! at Disney California Adventure at Disneyland Resort.

One thing that shocked us after we entered the building, was how complete the inside looked, while the exterior did not look complete at all! Now, it seems that construction has ramped up on the exterior, which is fantastic news. Imagineer Zach Riddley has recently taken to Instagram to unveil the building facade, which until now was just concept art.

His post detailed:

We are excited to share a first look at our stunning facade being installed at Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind!! This morning we unwrapped the metal panels that will cover the entire front surface of the pavilion. These metallic silver panels bring a sleek, intergalactic aesthetic that fits perfectly in our World Discovery neighborhood.

Soon we will commence installation of our greeter booth in front of these panels that will serve as gateway into this attraction. This structure will serve as our welcome point for all Guests who come to experience the treasures our Xandarian friends have come to EPCOT to showcase.

We have much more progress to share as the exterior of the pavilion takes shape over the coming weeks and as we continue the largest park transformation in Disney history.

As we can see in the photos, the attraction’s look is a steel gray-silver color, as we expected, which gives it a very sleek, clean, and futuristic look — matching with the ride’s theme quite well. Clearly, there is still a lot of work to be done, but as Guests and Disney fans alike await an opening date, the progress is very hopeful. Soon, Guests will be able to enjoy the World Showcase pavilions and see the details of the countries, as well as see Xandar brought to life as the planet and its Nova Corps have decided to establish EPCOT’s first “Other-World Showcase” pavilion.
