Walt Disney World Resort is preparing to unleash a few new attractions, but one of the most anticipated is Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. The coaster is located in one of EPCOT’s new neighborhoods, World Discovery.
The coaster has been under construction for quite some time, and although we do not yet have an opening date, we were able to get a sneak peek of the coaster today! As Disney continues to prepare Guests for The World’s Most Magical Celebration, Inside the Magic has been able to check out all of the fun festivities leading up to October 1!
Today, select Guests were able to enter the attraction and see it for the first time. The attraction is not yet complete, and the worklights were on, but we can confidently say that it is going to blow Guests away. Cosmic Rewind is one of the biggest attractions that Disney has ever created, and expands into what seems to be multiple show rooms. This will be the second Guardians of the Galaxy-themed attraction at Disney Parks in the U.S., the first being Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! at Disney California Adventure at Disneyland Resort.
With twists and turns riddled throughout the coaster track and screens located in many areas to tell the story, it will surely be an attraction unlike any other that we have seen created by The Walt Disney Company. Although the coaster is in a building, it makes great use of the space, using the height of the building perfectly.
Disney Imagineering spoke on the story of the attraction, and how it makes sense and fits into EPCOT quite perfectly. Of course, we know it is located to Mission: Space and Space 220, which works great, but it seems that this attraction will actually bring an all new pavilion into the theme park, as mentioned by Disney! The people of Xandar have come to World Discovery, which is where our coaster story begins! Now, Guests will be able to enjoy the World Showcase pavilions and see the details of the countries, as well as see Xandar brought to life as the planet and its Nova Corps have decided to establish Epcot’s first “Other-World Showcase” pavilion.
There are still tonnes of details that will need to be released when it comes to the coaster, but being able to see the completed tracks was a jaw-dropping experience that gives us the ability to say that the wait will likely be worth it!
Do you think Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will be worth it?
