On the day of Epcot’s 37th birthday, Walt Disney World has opened a brand new experience to celebrate Epcot’s past, present, and future: the Epcot Experience.
Located in the Odyssey Events Pavilion in Future World between Test Track and the Mexico Pavilion, the Epcot Experience created by Walt Disney Imagineering is an engaging, immersive new space that gives guests a close up, in-depth look at the historic transformation that is currently underway at Epcot.
As we learned at the Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products presentation at D23 Expo this past August, Epcot is currently undergoing a massive overhaul. Future World is getting transformed into three new lands, Moana and Mary Poppins attractions are coming soon, Club Cool and other Future World areas have closed, all-new fireworks shows are coming, and much, much more is happening at Epcot to prepare for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary and beyond.
Now, long-time fans of the theme park and new visitors to Walt Disney World can view what’s coming soon at Epcot by heading over to the Epcot Experience. This area displays a continuous 12-minute film with vignettes about new additions to Epcot on a 360-degree, floor-to-ceiling screen. In the center of the room is a 3-D model that highlights new additions coming to Epcot with artistic and advanced projection mapping technology. The Epcot Experience truly immerses guests in what will soon become the reimagined Epcot with its blend of cutting-edge technology with fun.
You can also take a look at new dimensional photo locations within the Epcot Experience, including a scene where it looks like you’re standing on top of Spaceship Earth!
Guests can even view historic artifacts and attraction posters from Epcot through the years, so if you’re a Disney history buff, a fan of the old Epcot, or you’re just excited to see how far the theme park has come, the Epcot Experience is worth a visit at the Odyssey Pavilion.
Here’s a closer look at the Epcot Experience from what we saw today:
The opening of the Epcot Experience on Epcot’s 37th birthday coincides with the premiere of a brand new fireworks spectacular at the theme park — Epcot Forever. You can read all about the Epcot Forever fireworks and Livestream here.
