Future World overhaul: Three new lands coming to Epcot

New Epcot lands

Walt Disney once said “Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow – We will call it Epcot.”

Walt wanted to build a community of tomorrow that would never be completed. He wanted a place where people could live and work and to demonstrate and then introduce new ideas and new systems.

And that is exactly what Epcot is. Epcot is constantly changing – constantly growing. And on Sunday during the Disney Parks, Experiences and Products panel at the D23 Expo, Bob Chapek, Chairman of Parks, Experiences and Products, and Zach Riddley of Walt Disney Imagineering announced several big projects coming to Epcot.

One of these being three brand new lands – replacing what is now known as Future World. The purpose of these three new lands is that all of Epcot will be a unity of four neighborhoods that speak to each important aspect of the world. World Showcase, which has already been apart of this park, will be joined by World Celebration, World Nature and World Discovery.

World Celebration

The iconic Spaceship Earth will be getting an update. Although it will still remain a journey through time, it will be revamped with new narration and an entirely new musical score.

If you’re looking for the perfect place for live events then you’ll have to check out the home base for Epcot’s signature festivals. This new pavilion will showcase stunning views of the entire park and will be the perfect spot to witness the brand new “HarmonioUS” – Disney’s biggest nighttime spectacular yet! HarmonioUS will celebrate the music of Disney and how it continues to inspire people from all around the world. The music will harmoniously carry you away on a stream of very familiar Disney songs, which will be reinterpreted by artists from around the globe.

World Nature

The purpose of World Nature will be to understand and preserve the beauty and balance of the natural world we all live in. This will be home to The Land and The Seas with Nemo & Friends pavilions.

This is also where the new “Moana” attraction will be located. “Journey of Water” invites guests to meet and play with actual living water.

World Discovery

Venture off to a different galaxy with Star Lord and the gang on Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind – the brand new “Guardians of the Galaxy” ride.

Guests can also look forward to an expansion of the Mission: SPACE pavilion with the new restaurant Space 220. Visitors will get a culinary experience featuring the celestial panorama of a space station and will see both daytime and nighttime views of Earth from 220 miles up!

Also coming to Epcot will be the ThePLAY! pavilion, where you will discover an interactive city with games and activities and that will connect you to friends, family and even Disney characters!
