A Walt Disney World Resort guest recently shared photos of two damaged Cars (2006) character statues at one of the Central Florida destination’s themed hotels. Disney Parks fans were disappointed that the structures were left incomplete after either deteriorating or being defaced by guests.
On Sunday, Redditor u/sandy_shark903 shared these photos of the Fillmore and Lightning McQueen statues at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. Both were missing their decorative headlights:

Both vehicles looked like their headlights had been ripped out, with no efforts to conceal the damage. Many Disney Parks fans blamed unruly guests for the harm to the characters.
“This is why we can’t have nice stuff,” u/mcamuso78 commented. “I’m sure some kid peaked off the headlight and popped Fillmore’s off. While the parents watched and probably recorded their darling child expressing themselves.”

“Souvenirs are available in the Ink and Paint shop and do not need to be stolen from characters!” u/opthomas_prime_21 echoed.
Others said the damage had been present for weeks, and Walt Disney World Resort has yet to announce plans to fix it.

“Lightning also only had one headlight when we were there in early December,” u/bauer_hockey10 wrote.
“Oh man we stayed there mid December and I just checked photos too. DID NOT NOTICE,” u/GulfOyster replied. “Flo’s left taillight was hanging off too. I tried to fix it but it was in bad shape. Bummer.”

Despite this issue, the future is bright for the Cars franchise at Walt Disney World Resort. Last year, Walt Disney Imagineering announced that it would demolish the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island to make way for two all-new Cars rides in Frontierland at Magic Kingdom Park. These new attractions were announced alongside plans for a Villains Land “beyond Big Thunder Mountain.”
