Marvel's Newest Star Officially Becomes "Most Popular" Celebrity

The IMDb STARmeter is a good indicator of which celebrities the public truly cares about at any given moment. Whoever appears at the top of the list is the most searched celebrity on the indispensable Internet Movie Database website and is, therefore, considered the “most popular” celebrity on the web.

Following the debut of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s newest Disney+ Original series, Hawkeye, last week, MCU newcomer Hailee Steinfeld (Kate Bishop) skyrocketed to the top spot, which has previously been held by two different The Mandalorian stars —  leading man Pedro Pascal (Din Djarin) and controversial Gina Carano (Cara Dune).

As you can see [below], Steinfeld (True Grit) overtook Daniella Pineda (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) and Elena Satine (Cowboy Bebop) for the #1 STARMeter spot.

The actress recently spoke out about joining the MCU, noting that this is “only the beginning” of her career as part of “a new group of young Avengers” with Kevin Feige’s Marvel Studios:

“…this feels so crazy to me right now just sitting here with this group of people. I’m so grateful to be a part of this show and this universe, and, um, it’s only the beginning.”

Over the course of the first two episodes of Hawkeye, Steinfeld (True Grit) has emerged as a fan-favorite character. The series — much like Clint Barton/Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) himself — is a low-key departure from the MCU’s more intense recent projects like the existential Eternals (2021) and Tom Hiddleston’s Loki series, which broke the Marvel Multiverse wide open.

The series features six episodes that take place over the course of six days as Barton attempts to return home for Christmas following an unsurprisingly chaotic family trip to New York City.

It is not yet known if Hawkeye will receive a second season, but it has been reported that the show had the lowest debut viewership of any live-action MCU series on the Disney+ streaming platform.

Marvel Studios’ “Hawkeye” stars Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, who teams up with another well-known archer from the Marvel comics, Kate Bishop, played by Hailee Steinfeld. The cast also includes Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Zahn McClarnon, Brian d’Arcy James and newcomer Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez. “Hawkeye” is helmed by Rhys Thomas and directing duo Bert and Bertie.
