From a galaxy far far away, the official trailer for the eagerly-awaited Mandolorian spin-off is finally here.
Disney has released a sneak peek at The Book of Boba Fett, to be released December 29 on Disney+ and starring Temuera Morrison.
In the critically-acclaimed final episode of The Mandolorian, starring Pedro Pascal and Gina Carano, an unanticipated post-credits scene announced a new spinoff series — The Book of Boba Fett — was confirmed for a December 2021 release date.
The scene took long-time Star Wars fans back to a very familiar Tatooine location, Jabba the Hutt’s palace. Hutt, of course, was killed by Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) in Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi (1983), but his former right-hand man, Twi’lek Bib Fortuna (Michael Carter), has taken his throne in the intervening five years between Return of the Jedi (1983) and The Mandalorian.
The trailer can be found below, hinting at his master plan after his violent takeover of Jabba the Hutt’s palace on Tatooine :

The new trailer shows Temuera Morrison in his titular role as Boba Fett, in the first footage released from Star Wars project.
Fett was reintroduced to the live-action Star Wars universe in the first episode of The Mandalorian‘s second season last year, having escaped Tatooine’s hungry Sarlacc in the years since Return of the Jedi.
In the trailer, we see the return of the assassin Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen), who assisted Boba in getting his armor back and helping Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) retrieve fan-favorite Grogu from the Empire. The series ended with Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) returning in a surprise CGI appearance to become Grogu’s new Jedi Master.
Star Wars fans were quick to react on social media, with many commenting on the fight scenes and characters who appear in the trailer:
OMG! This looks EPIC! Can’t wait!

There’s plenty more live-action Star Wars coming to Disney+. The Mandalorian will be returning for a third season, while former Jedi Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson), exiled Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor), and rebel spy Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) are getting their own shows.
Disney and Lucasfilm describe The Mandalorian’s “next chapter”:
“The Book of Boba Fett,” a thrilling Star Wars adventure, finds legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand navigating the Galaxy’s underworld when they return to the sands of Tatooine to stake their claim on the territory once ruled by Jabba the Hutt and his crime syndicate.
“The Book of Boba Fett” stars Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen. Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Robert Rodriguez, Kathleen Kennedy and Colin Wilson are the executive producers. Karen Gilchrist and Carrie Beck serve as co-executive producers, with John Bartnicki producing and John Hampian as co-producer.
