As title character Din Djarin, Pedro Pascal has become a household name thanks to the success of The Mandalorian. The Chilean-born actor previously had major roles as Javier Peña in Narcos and as Prince Oberyn Martell in HBO’s hit Game of Thrones.
Star Wars, however, is what really threw him into the spotlight. Now, some fans are making a major case for Pascal to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe sooner rather than later.
Instagram user M Design has created a stunning image of Pascal as Marvel’s Rhino.
While nothing has been confirmed by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige or anyone else involved in the upcoming Spider-Man film, No Way Home, it is possible that Spider-Man/Peter Parker (Tom Holland) will find himself facing off with Sinister Six characters, such as Rhino.
As FanSided noted about the artwork, the role is a bit surprising, but this take on Pascal in Rhino’s costume has us convinced, too:
Pascal trades in his Mandalorian armor for Rhino’s iconic bulking polymer suit inspired by the physique of a rhinoceros, thus giving him his nickname. Clearly, the artist was inspired more by the character’s iconic Marvel comics costume rather than the less than comic accurate look we saw when Paul Giamatti played the character in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.Â
Admittedly, Rhino isn’t the first character we would have envisioned Pascal taking on in joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but after seeing him suit up in Rhino’s iconic suit we have to admit we’re fully on board with the idea!
Interestingly, Pascal’s real-life best friend, Star Wars sequel trilogy star Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), recently signed on to play Moon Knight/Marc Spector in the upcoming Disney+ Moon Knight series. It would be fun to see both actors make the leap from one fandom to another.
As for what we know Pascal is up to in the near future, the actor was recently cast in a leading role in HBO’s The Last of Us adaptation. He is also set to reprise his role as Din Djarin in The Mandalorian Season 3 sometime in 2022.
At this time, Pascal is the only actor confirmed to appear in the third season of the hit Star Wars series. It is, however, likely that Katee Sackhoff (Bo-Katan Kryze) will return with her Nite Owl warriors to continue the Darksaber storyline.
Furthermore, Pascal is rumored to appear as the Mandalorian bounty hunter in The Mandalorian saga’s “next chapter,” The Book of Boba Fett, in December 2021. Showrunner Jon Favreau and executive producer Dave Filoni have neither one confirmed this news, however.
Pascal’s most recent project was playing villain Maxwell Lord in Patty Jenkins’s Wonder Woman 1984, which released in theaters and on HBO Max on Christmas Day 2020.
What do you think? Should Pedro Pascal crossover to the MCU soon? Are you looking forward to more Djarin and “Baby Yoda” on Disney+?
