    He looks good to me.

  2. Green

I expected a swimmers body type. The actor might be great but definitely doesn’t fit the image of someone that swims constantly.

      True🤔

“Body shaming”…the words of a true snowflake. I want a superhero that looks like a superhero. It’s a world of fantasy-enjoy it as such. I guess the author wants someone other than the Rock to play a superhero, as he actually does have huge muscles. Silliness…grow up and grow a pair.

    1. Ade gbolahan

In said World of fantasy he does reserve the right to want his superhero to look like a super hero it’s not bad it’s what he wants and he is free to say those things because of free speech. You guys should Stop trying to cancel everything , everything is offensive

    2. Methos

Yeah, I love how sot ass people come up with these buzz words to tr and shame people. I had NO idea that guy was Namor util I started reading comments🤷🏾‍♂️

    – Watches fantasy movie.
    – Complains that characters are “body shamed” because maker of character points out not looking like the fantasy.

Also, mentions of Evans and Hemsworth, who worked their butt’s off to look fantasy muscle.

Ita part of the job, a big part of the job, to LOOK LIKE THE CHARACTER.

    Ridiculous article.

When hes supposed yo be a suprr hero he should def have a super hero body. A hood actor looking like a dumpling doesnt make for a good movie.

  6. MarvelSux

They made Namor look like a fatt-ish gay Pedro from Napoleon Dynamite. But he’s a sort of white character in a Black Panther movie so I would expect nothing less. Wakanda for NEVER!

Wow. What an utterly useless, moronic, and oblivious critique from this author. Of course, we should expect our heroes to resemble the worlds they live in where gods and humans interact regularly! We retreat into these worlds precisely because they aren’t like ours! It’s part of the magic and allure of disassociative creativity, which is the thrust of fantasy! I will never understand the attraction of the fanboy progressives to these fantasy worlds. If they could actually escape there, I think they would find it even more wretched and undesirable than the world they do inhabit!

It is not body shaming to want a character that you artistically brought to life to resemble what is now being brought to the big screen. Fans identify with what the have been following for years so when you deviate from that particular imagery it can be a huge let down. There were several other Actors that were thought highly of who fit the role better (look wise) but just may not have fit into the Aztec story plot, but I am sure that there are some actors of Latino decent that are somewhat jacked enough who would have been able to really pull the look off. Namor is a BEAST in the the comics both physically and overall stature wise feared and respect by both enemies and some Supes!!!! Just my opinion though 🤷

    Body shaming ahahahah
The man INVENTED Namor and you are entitled enough to put him on the spot for poking fun at the degrading way Disney has been doing Marvel.

Make Namor a woman while we are at it, not because of sexism but because at this point Namor is just another stolen IP ready to be dragged through the mud and I am growing to love making fun of these.
Can’t wait to see an episode of Mexican Namor on South Park in a year or two 😀

This dude was even born when namor was created. So how does he have any say in what Marvel does with the character? Namor has been around for almost 100 years. This dude needs to shut his trap and enjoy the movie like everyone else will. RIP Chadwick Bozeman

      2. André B. Thomas

        No, young man.

Bill Everett (circa 1939) created Namor -the Submariner.

Retired, former Vietnam era veteran, ex Detroiter, expatriate, ex Marvel comic book collector, currently living in the Colombian Andes.

Look, I don’t read the comics, and I sure as hell seem to be falling out with the MCU, but… C’mon, don’t compare Chris Hemsworth or Chris Evan’s physiques to the panels you showed us in this article. The panels from the comics you gave as examples he’s not even that level of jacked in. Yes, working out is a hard thing, but I’d argue this character has a very obtainable and realistic physique. Sort of like Robert Pattinsons physique in The Batman, it wasn’t Chris Hemsworth level, ‘fantasy’ level, but it was realistic and made sense for the story (since he’s early Batman) and he worked hard to get where he was physically for the movie.

All anyone, particularly that artist was probably asking for, was a swimmers body, not a bodybuilder. They don’t genuinely have to be a good swimmer, but a body type that mimics what swimmers would usually have.

  11. Hmm so this character lives underwater, no cars, no trains etc. Maybe an occasional dolphin or whale but primary locomotion for the character is swimming a day every day. What type of person can we identify that swims all day. Olympic swimmers spend about half a day in the pool that’s probably the closest. So does he look like an Olympic swimmer? No?!? Well then its not body shaming but casting shaming in my opinion wrong body type for the bare essence of the character. Casting director didn’t bother to simplify what a humanoid body looks like swimming even just 50% of the day. Artist correct casting fail.

  12. Dude

He’s got a point. If you get the role, you put the work in to make the body that is required for the movie. I’m not gonna call this writer a snowflake, because body shaming is not the way. This may technically be body shaming, but there’s a standard. He’s the artist anyway he kind of deserves to say something if he wants to.

  13. Mr Redfield

    SCOTLAND!!! FREEDOM!!!

  14. Culo

What a moronic article, this could have been left for a facebook post. Mike Deodato Jr is right.

  15. Evantfunk

If you get the role you should look the part. They get paid the big bucks to train, diet an use anabolics to look like comic book charcters. To ask for a lean muscle bound physique is expected and the artist though rude in his posting, is right in my opinion.

  16. Wayne

Utter rubbish. If you can’t get the physical attributes to portray a certain character you shouldn’t get the role. Body shaming is absolutely necessary in an industry where physical appearance is 90% of the job. They already race swapped him. Now that body morphed him into a couch potato who’d struggle to swim a length in a pool. Ridiculous.

  17. Rook

It’s funny they showed this one image of the character but as comics go, there’s 50 other images of Namor that does not look like the images provided. There’s so many different iterations of a character. Dude looks fine. It’s funny that men will talk about how hard they have to work to look a certain way, but then tear each other down. Yeah, they could have gotten an Olympic swimmer, but I’m here to tell you, not everyone is actor material.

  18. James

Uh, the article author has poor reading comprehension. The artist was not comparing the actor to the artwork; he was comparing the actor to the *artist* (himself). SMH.
