Actress Gina Carano — known for her role as former mercenary and current New Republic Marshal Cara Dune in The Mandalorian — has been subject to all sorts of social media chatter lately.

The actress is known for her sometimes controversial Tweets about political and social issues. Star Wars fans and even Carano’s own followers are often divided in what they think about the outspoken actress — both #WeLoveCaraDune and #FireGinaCarano trended on Twitter at various points during The Mandalorian Season 2.
Now, following a recent interview in which Carano spoke out about the Pablo Hidalgo controversy — Lucasfilm creative executive Hidalgo mocked a fan online after the YouTuber live-streamed his reaction to The Mandalorian Season 2 finale (“Chapter 16: The Rescue”), during which Luke Skywalker (CGI Mark Hamill) appeared seemingly out of nowhere to rescue Grogu (AKA The Child AKA Baby Yoda), Dune, Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal), Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen), Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff), and Koska Reeves (Mercedes Varnado/Sasha Banks) from a Dark Trooper squadron — Carano’s supports are coming out in force on social media.
The hashtag #IStandWithGinaCarano has begun trending as fans look to casting for the multiple Mandalorian spinoffs that are in the works. Currently, many in the Star Wars fan community believe Carano is likely to be cast in Rangers of the New Republic due to her character’s status as a “Ranger of the New Republic”.

No exaggeration, the singular most valuable character to be added to the galaxy far, far away in half my life. She shows kids what they can accomplish with hard work and dedication, with Gina herself as proof of concept. #WeLoveCaraDune #Istandwithginacarano
