Disney Parks around the world have been undergoing some pretty epic changes over the past few years, and there are even more transformations to come, especially at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure theme parks in Anaheim, CA. Over the past year, we’ve fallen head over heels for the updates, reimagined attractions, and new dining experiences added to the West Coast Disney Parks, from the delicious snacks at Tropical Hideaway to the amazing new theming of the Incredicoaster.

With everything new and exciting coming to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure over the next few years, we’ve rounded up a guide for our Inside the Magic readers to discover what’s to come. We’ll continue to update this post with more information as we receive it, but keep reading for more information on every new attraction and experience coming to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure by 2020.

Attractions

Of course, we can’t talk about what’s coming to Disneyland without starting with Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. This is perhaps the most highly anticipated new land opening in Disneyland history, and the state-of-the-art attractions are sure to knock everyone into a galaxy far, far away.

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run will open when Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens at Disneyland on May 31, 2019. The attraction follows the story of Hondo Ohnaka, a pirate who has cut a deal with Chewbacca for the use of the Millennium Falcon. Park guests will serve as the ship’s pilot. The experience will allow Guests to see real-time results of their actions, including knocking over a spire during takeoff.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will open in the second phase of the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge later this year. Though we don’t know the exact opening date of the attraction, we do know that it will be an ambitious and immersive attraction that places guests in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance. Plus, the ride is trackless and features new technology that we’re so excited to experience.

Disney recently announced that Mickey’s PhilharMagic is coming soon to the Sunset Showcase Theater in Hollywood Land in Disney California Adventure. The show is a 12-minute fantasy adventure that follows Donald Duck through several scenes from classic Disney animated films. This attraction is a favorite among guests at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World, so we’re excited to see it coming to the West Coast in April 2019.

An immersive, interactive attraction featuring Spider-Man will open as part of the new Super Hero-themed land opening in 2020 at Disney California Adventure. The setting for this innovative theme park experience is a new organization called the Worldwide Engineering Brigade (or WEB, for short). The WEB invites Disney Parks guests to “suit up” and engage with Marvel Super Heroes like Spider-Man in new and exciting ways. Disney hasn’t yet revealed an official opening date for WEB or the other Marvel attractions coming to Disney California Adventure, but we’ll update you when we know more.

The all-new Emotional Whirlwind attraction inspired by “Inside Out” is coming soon to Pixar Pier at Disney California Adventure. Though Disney has yet to reveal an opening date, this attraction will be the final installment of the Inside Out Neighborhood located on the reimagined Pixar Pier, which opened in summer 2018. Fans of Flik’s Flyers in A Bug’s Land (which closed last year and is currently being transformed into the Super Hero-themed land inspired by Marvel characters) will be happy to know that Emotional Whirlwind will be a similar attraction.

Dining

Oga’s Cantina will be the first location to serve alcohol in Disneyland park (apart from Club 33). At this new location, essentially a “Star Wars”-inspired cocktail lounge, Guests can enjoy interstellar cocktails and otherworldly tunes spun by a droid DJ. But don’t worry: if cocktails aren’t your thing, you can enjoy a non-alcoholic Blue Milk drink. Oga’s Cantina will be opening in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge this May at Disneyland.

Along with Oga’s Cantina, guests will also get to enjoy the opening Docking 7 Bay Food & Cargo this summer. Here, guests can feast on galactic-inspired dishes, beverages, and desserts, from Braised Shaak Roast and Fried Endorian Tip-Yip to Moof Juice and Raspberry Creme Puff with Passion Fruit Mousse. The Black Spire Outpost Market will also welcome guests to Ronto Roasters to dine on quick-service sandwiches and drinks. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will also feature both milk and kettle corn stands, so by the sounds of it you won’t go hungry even amid all the crowds at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

Disney has yet to reveal more information about other dining locations outside of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge that are coming within the next couple of years, but we’ll update you when we know more. We’re itching to find out what food they’ll be serving up at the new Super Hero-themed land at Disney California Adventure!

Experiences

Lion King celebration

A limited-time celebration of “The Lion King” is coming to Disney California Adventure in summer 2019 just in time for the 25th anniversary of the original animated film and the theatrical release of the new remake. We don’t know much about this new experience, but Disney shared that throughout the day, a group of storytellers will celebrate “The Lion King” through story, song, and dance. The celebration will also feature fun experiences including colorful craft activities for kids of all ages. We’ll update this post when we know more.

Additionally, Disneyland Resort guests can enjoy epic new experiences at both Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and the new Super Hero-themed land when each opens in 2019 and 2020, respectively. Meandering each of these new lands, interacting with their characters and inhabitants, perusing the shops, and experiencing the attractions are getting us extra hyped for them to open this year and next. We can’t wait for Galaxy’s Edge to open in 2019, and 2020’s opening of the Super Hero land can’t come soon enough.

After 2020

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway

Of course, we had to share that Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will be coming to Disneyland in a few years. It may not be until 2022, but it’s definitely something to get excited about. The new attraction, which will be located in Mickey’s Toontown, will transport guests into the world of a Mickey Mouse cartoon short. You will ride aboard a train with Goofy as the engineer and experience some zany and adorable misadventures, just as Mickey does in his cartoons! This attraction will open sometime in 2022, but we’ll keep you updated with more details to come.
