Head back, face forward, and hold on! The Incredicoaster has arrived at Disney California Adventure‘s newly-rethemed area Pixar Pier, which officially opened on Saturday to guests at Disneyland Resort in Southern California. The roller coaster formerly known as California Screamin’ has received a permanent “Incredibles” overlay featuring Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, Violet, Dash, baby Jack-Jack, and of course that irascible superhero fashionista Edna Mode.

During the couple days I spent exploring Pixar Pier I was able to experience the Incredicoaster about half a dozen times, and while the ride is enjoyable at all times, it becomes much more impressive after nightfall. The lighting package really sells this version of the attraction, and the effects sprinkled throughout work so much better without sunlight spilling in. Below, I’ve embedded the four major videos we posted from the Incredicoaster over this past weekend.

As you’ll see in the videos above, the Incredicoaster queue area contains some gorgeous new mural artwork featuring Disney/Pixar’s first family of superheroes, the pre-show video features all-new animation with a couple “wink-wink” fourth-wall breaking moments acknowledging the history of the ride, and I even put together a comparison to give a better feel of the difference between the experience at night and during the day.

The Incredicoaster is now open, along with Pixar Pier, in the Disney California Adventure theme park at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California.
