Deadpool fans have been waiting for more of Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) ever since Disney bought the rights to the Merc with a Mouth along with the rest of the X-Men from 20th Century Fox Studios. And now Ryan Reynolds’s Deadpool has finally met another character from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and officially joined the MCU.
While promoting Free Guy, which will hit theaters on August 13, 2021, Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool sits down with Korg to break down the Free Guy trailer. Marvel Fans will remember Korg from the Marvel film Thor: Ragnarok (2017), where he was voiced by director Taika Waititi.
Taika Waititi has reprised his role as the Kronan warrior for the promotion. And between Taika and Ryan Reynolds, the Deadpool’s Maximum Reactions is chock-full of fun moments. Korg thinks Deadpool is actually dead and Deadpool wants to know where the dogs were in the Cruella (2021) remake.
Korg and Deadpool have a previous connection for the fans who thought that Deadpool was NoobMaster69, who tortured Korg while gaming in Avengers: Endgame (2019). Though that theory was debunked in a promotion for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Ryan Reynolds (Hitman’s Body Guard) stars as Guy in the upcoming movie that has been delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic for over a year. Much like Marvel’s Black Widow, which is currently in theaters and streaming on Disney+.
A bank teller who discovers he is actually a background player in an open-world video game, decides to become the hero of his own story… one he rewrites himself. Now in a world where there are no limits, he is determined to be the guy who saves his world his way… before it is too late.
Taika Waititi will also be playing the villain, Antonie, in Free Guy, so it’s fun to see the two Marvel actors unite for the commercial which you can watch here. Korg even gives Marvel’s Deadpool some ridiculous tips for how to get into the MCU.
But apparently, all he needed was a little help from his friends in the Marvel Cinematic Universe because he has finally made it!
Hugh Jackman even joined in on the fun. He commented on Ryan Reynolds’ Instagram Post when he shared Deadpool’s Marvel debut saying “Wow! 4:12 and no mention of me. DP your therapy is working!!!”
Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds have long-standing “feud”. Deadpool’s introduction to the Marvel Universe has fans hoping it will goad Jackman into returning to superhero movies alongside Reynolds for the first time since X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009).
I guess the next question is if Korg will mention his new friend to Thor (Chris Hemsworth) when they return in Thor: Love and Thunder on May 6, 2022, alongside the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Are you going to see Free Guy in theaters or will the next time you see Ryan Reynolds will be as the mercenary Wade Wilson when Deadpool 3 comes to the MCU.
