Johnny Depp has long been in the limelight, but as of late, the Pirates of the Caribbean actor has received his fair share of bad press.

If you are up to date with your entertainment news, you know of the recent legal battle between Captain Jack Sparrow actor Depp and ex-wife Amber Heard (Aquaman). In a report by the U.K. publication, The Sun, Heard accused Depp of multiple instances of domestic abuse.

Since the original report, Depp’s camp has vigorously fought the claims — however, the actor ultimately lost his libel case against the Newspaper Group publication.

The loss, in this case, created a spiraling effect on the actor’s career. Depp would go on to not only lose his role as Jack Sparrow in the reported Pirates of the Caribbean 6 — a role which is now seemingly going to Margot Robbie — but also the Harry Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts franchise.

Warner Bros. asked Johnny Depp to step down from his role as Gellert Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts 3. Mads Mikkelsen is set to take over Depp’s character in the Fantastic Beasts franchise.

Although his career has not been going well since the Heard accusations, there have been rumors of Depp working with an old friend, Tim Burton, in an Addams Family revival and Beetlejuice 2. Neither of these projects has been confirmed at this time, however.

This court case has been so interesting to those following along because it is not a simple one. Although Amber has made her accusations, the Jack Sparrow actor is, as previously mentioned, strongly denying all claims.

Most recently, Depp even put out the LAPD’s bodycam footage of them reentering the couple’s home right after a call to the police was made, showing that Heard’s description of a destroyed home was incorrect.

In addition to Depp having evidence against at least some of Heard’s accusations, Depp also has one of the most loyal fan bases in Hollywood, the majority of which have stood by his side as #JusticeforJohnnyDepp continuously trends on Twitter and petitions are being signed to bring him back as Jack Sparrow to the Disney film.

The court case also brought Depp’s alleged substance abuse issues to light, making it even more challenging for him to garner favor in the press, despite his loyal fans.

Johnny Depp’s career and personal life have audiences quite captivated. Now, a three-part documentary is reportedly being made of the “rise and fall of his career as well as his marriage to Amber Heard,” according to Daily Star.

The publication noted that ITV, a British network, is creating the series, which will strongly focus on the court case, which has been heavily documented.

The article shared:

“They will make for excruciating viewing for Depp who’d probably wish the whole disastrous saga would go away. But the story of how a multi- millionaire who was box office gold was the author of his own downfall is just too sensational a subject not to explore.”

At the moment, the working title of the series is Depp vs. Heard. However, many shows do not use their official names immediately, so this may change. It does, though, let us know that the documentary focuses on the relationship more than Depp’s acting career.

It will be interesting to see if the documentary shows a biased opinion of the ongoing legal battle — there is still a civil suit set to be heard at some point in the future — or reveals the facts of both sides.

Stay tuned to Inside the Magic as we continue to report further on the Johnny Depp drama.

Do you think the documentary will side with Mr. Depp or Ms. Heard? Or will it be unbiased?
