2025 is shaping up to be a big year for the Jurassic franchise. Not only is there a new film heading to theaters this July—Jurassic World Rebirth—but now, there’s a brand-new television series heading to the streaming service giant, Netflix.
The Jurassic franchise first broke onto the smaller screen in 2020 with the hit animated series Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous. The show follows a group of teens who become stranded on Isla Nublar during the collapse of Jurassic World as seen in the 2015 blockbuster hit of the same name. It ran for five seasons before ending in 2022.
Last year, the animated side of Jurassic was brought back with Jurassic World: Chaos Theory, a follow-up to Camp Cretaceous but with a darker and more mature tone
Where the initial show overlapped with the events of the 2015 film, and, in part, the 2018 sequel, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Chaos Theory takes place sometime before the latest sequel, Jurassic World Dominion (2022).
Now, it seems the third season will come even closer to the events of that film, and even brings back a familiar face. Watch the first trailer for Chaos Theory Season 3 below:

The trailer is teeming with dinosaurs, some familiar, others not so much. Unsurprisingly, it also confirms the return of the Camp Cretaceous ensemble: Darius Bowman (Paul-Mikél Williams), Ben Pincus (Sean Giambrone), Yasmina Fadoula (Kausar Mohammed), Kenji Kon (Darren Barnet), Sammy Gutierrez (Raini Rodriguez), and Brooklynn (Kiersten Kelly).
While Brooklynn took center stage in Chaos Theory seasons one and two, largely because she had become an enigmatic character as opposed to the wide-eyed teen of Camp Cretaceous, but also because mega-star Jenna Ortega stepped away from the role, this time it seems Soyona Santos will be getting more attention than she did in Season 2.
However, the shady black market dealer made her first appearance in Jurassic World Dominion, played by Dichen Lachman, who reprises her role in Chaos Theory. The animated series merely marks the character’s first time in animation.

All eyes are currently on the upcoming sequel Jurassic World Rebirth, which stars Scarlett Johansson in the lead role, but seeing as that film won’t see the return of any characters from previous films, such as Owen Grady (Chris Pratt), Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard), Alan Grant (Sam Neill), Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum), and Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern), it’s nice to see the animated side of the franchise picking up the slack.
The same can be said about the fact that Chaos Theory is continuing to explore the idea of dinosaurs living among humans, something Dominion bungled, while Rebirth is set to repeat those mistakes, lazily opting for the tried-and-tested jungle island formula (while also killing off dinosaurs worldwide) instead of trying to right the wrongs of its predecessor.
“The Camp Cretaceous gang comes together to unravel a mystery when they discover a global conspiracy that brings danger to dinosaurs — and to themselves,” the official synopsis for Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Season 3 reads. It will stream on Netflix from April 3.

More Jurassic Park/Jurassic World Content Coming
Chaos Theory Season 3 and Rebirth aren’t the only upcoming Jurassic sequels.
While there are no release dates, there’s also the first-person action-adventure video game “Jurassic Park: Survival,” which takes place directly after the original 1993 film, and the third entry in the park management simulation series, “Jurassic World Evolution.”
There are also rumors of a third video game and a live-action Jurassic World series.
