November 25 might be the last day of Marvel’s Phase Four, but fans know anytime with James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy is a good time. After teaming up with Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, the Guardians crew has moved on to more minor things, such as thinking for their good friend, Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), and trying to cheer them up.

This leads to Mantis and Drax going to earth and speaking to the legendary Kevin Bacon as they try to kidnap him and have him make Peter Quill feel better. This fun holiday special will be wacky but memorable and bring Kevin Bacon into the MCU in an unusual way.

Most of the time, actors never play themselves, but Kevin Bacon has the honor of just being himself as the Guardians crew invades his house during the holidays. Most fans remember that Bacon has already been in a Marvel movie, X-Men: First Class (2011), as he played Sebastian Shaw and served as the antagonist for the movie.

Shaw’s character plays a prominent role in the X-Men comics, and it wouldn’t be shocking if he is allowed to return to the MCU as Shaw. Some fans might wonder why this is possible, but Kevin Bacon isn’t technically playing anyone but himself in the MCU, allowing him to also play the iconic mutant role again if Marvel wants him to return with the X-Men.

It’s very unclear how Marvel plans to use the mutants in the MCU, but with Avengers: Secret Wars (2026) looming ahead, fans may learn more about the X-Men before they fight alongside all the other super hero teams in Secret Wars. Marvel might make a grave mistake if they don’t appear in any project beforehand.

Other reports claim that Marvel might focus more on introducing the mutants instead of just the X-Men first, leaving Shaw a big chance of being in the MCU before Charles Xavier creates his iconic super hero team. Fans already know that Wolverine is in the MCU due to She-Hulk: Attorney At Law, so it wouldn’t be surprising if Shaw already were up to no good in the MCU.

Due to the Multiverse, Marvel can always claim that Shaw is a variant of Kevin Bacon or was originally Bacon before the Multiverse opened, and then his variant existed in the same universe as a consequence of Sophie Di Martino’s Sylvie killing He Who Remains.

In the next few years, fans will see if Kevin Bacons get his wish of playing himself and reprising his X-Men role, but for now, fans can see the actor attempt to run away from our favorite super heroes.
