Although MCU Spider-Man and Avengers franchise star Tom Holland (Peter Parker/Spider-Man) has unequivocally stated that his contract with Marvel Studios ends with the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home on December 17, 2021, we do know that the iconic super hero character is sticking around in the MCU, thanks to recent confirmation from Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige.
The Marvel boss recently shared that, amid Sony and Marvel’s 2019 split, he was “mentally preparing to emotionally separate from it [the Spider-Man franchise]. I didn’t love it, but it is what it is. And then, thankfully, it came back together.”
Feige also went on to say that Marvel fans shouldn’t have anything to worry about moving forward, assuring the MCU faithful that he “anticipate us going through that emotional rollercoaster, or putting fans through that emotional rollercoaster, again.”
Now, it seems that Holland could be looking at a new contract for a brand new Spider-Man trilogy, at least according to one recent reported leak, which notes:
…Spider-Man 4 is in its earliest stages. But one thing remains clear: this is a slightly older, mature Parker, no longer the fresh-faced high school kid.
He has seen death and experienced tremendous loss. Although he will remain a positive figure with a snarky sense of humor, he has grown up, and the situations he will find himself in will be of a more edgy nature. The black costume will reflect that.
The aforementioned leak also includes another tidbit of information — again, unconfirmed by Marvel Studios or The Walt Disney Company at this time — that should excite Spidey fans:
Neither Venom nor the symbiote itself has appeared in Marvel Studios’ series reboot series thus far, but I’m told both companies have come to the agreement to have the alien outfit attach itself to Parker in the fourth movie.
Joining Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), the official description of Spider-Man: No Way Home reads:
For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero is unmasked and no longer able to separate his normal life from the high-stakes of being a Super Hero. When he asks for help from Doctor Strange the stakes become even more dangerous, forcing him to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.
Holland and Zendaya (MJ) are joined by Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Stephen Strange), Jon Favreau (Happy Hogan), Marisa Tomei (Aunt May), Jacob Batalon (Ned Leeds), and Alfred Molina (Doctor Octopus) in the film.
