Although all four Walt Disney World Resort theme parks — EPCOT, Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios — are celebrating for the next 18 months, Cinderella Castle is at the center of it all.
The iconic theme park centerpiece was there when Magic Kingdom Park officially opened to Guests on October 1, 1971 and it has gotten a stunning update ahead of the 50th anniversary. In addition to brand new decorations to accompany last year’s new paint job — a pink and royal blue combination designed to celebrate 70 years of Walt Disney’s Cinderella (1950) — the castle is getting a new nighttime spectacular called Enchantment.
Now, Disney has filed another construction permit for Cinderella Castle, this time for electrical work. While this permit likely isn’t for anything major — and could very well be connected to the fireworks show or light show for Enchantment — it is still exciting, as it indicates that final prep for the 50th anniversary celebration is well underway!
