Now, Greef Karga himself — actor Carl Weathers — has confirmed that the third season of the hit Disney+ Star Wars series will begin filming next month. Per a report about the confirmation:

During an appearance at Steel City Con [in Dave Filoni’s hometown of Pittsburgh, PA], Carl Weathers took to the stage to talk about his career and when discussing The Mandalorian, he revealed that the third season begins next month and that Greef Karga will be returning and Carl will be directing an episode once again.

Weathers said, “We’re gonna start a new season of The Mandalorian in the next month. Yeah and I get to be in front of the camera again and I get to direct again. So I hope you all stay on the look out for it, watch it, support it please because I’m not just proud of my work, but I’m proud of the show and to be part of it.”

True to form, Mandalorian showrunner Jon Favreau and executive producer Dave Filoni have remained mum about the plot of The Mandalorian Season 3, but we can anticipate that the ongoing Darksaber storyline will play a key role in the show.

At the end of Season 2, titular Mandalorian, bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) won the black-bladed saber in battle with Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito), leaving Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff) once again looking in from the outside.

Kryze, desperate to gain control of the ancient Mandalorian weapon to avenge her sister Duchess Satine Kryze’s death and rule Mandalore, is likely to be on the warpath when Season 3 begins.

At this time, we do not yet know if Skywalker and his new Jedi Padawan, Grogu (AKA “Baby Yoda”) will appear in The Mandalorian Season 3, or if fans will next see the 50-year-old infant in the rumored Luke Skywalker series or a Mandalorian spinoff show.

Two spinoffs — Ahsoka and The Book of Boba Fett — are currently planned. A third connected series, Rangers of the New Republic, was scrapped when Gina Carano (Cara Dune) was fired from the Star Wars franchise.

What are you hoping for in The Mandalorian Season 3?
