Walt Disney World is gearing up for the 50th anniversary, which will kick off on October 1, 2021. As the theme parks prepare for this milestone, construction work has been ongoing to ensure Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios are all 50th-ready for Guests.
One of the main projects Guests have been watching unfold at Magic Kingdom is the repainting of Cinderella Castle and the Fantasyland turets. Though, Imagineers just reached a milestone of adding the 50th crest to the front of the Castle, it seems as though the Magic Kingdom icon may be receiving even more construction work in the near future.
According to a new permit, which you can view here, Disney is gearing up for “general construction” work at 1400 Magic Kingdom Dr, which is the location of Cinderella Castle. Although not much other information is listed on the permit, it is clear that Cinderella Castle will receive some type of construction update in the near future.
This could be anything from as small as cosmetic work to something much bigger; however, we expect this permit to be relating to something small as Cinderella Castle just underwent an entire makeover for not only the 70th anniversary of Cinderella, but for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary, which will begin on October 1, 2021.
Inside the Magic will update you as we get information regarding Cinderella Castle.
In regards to other work happening at Magic Kingdom relating to the 50th, we have already seen the Tangled-themed restrooms, parts of Fantasyland including Prince Charming Regal Carrousel and Beast’s Castle, as well as Casey Jr.’s Soak ‘n’ Splash all receive construction work recently.
Stay tuned to Inside the Magic as we get more information surrounding Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary.
