When both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World announced their reopening plans and dates, they also announced quite a few changes that would take place when the parks reopen in order to help keep the theme park safe.
One of the changes happening is the temporary suspension of certain experiences including fireworks, parades, and meet and greets with Disney characters. When Disney World announced their reopening plans, Jim MacPhee, senior Vice President of Operations at Walt Disney World Resort said these experiences would not be available in order to help with social distancing measures and avoiding large crowds. He did not share when fireworks, parades or meet and greets will be offered in the future, but he said that more information would be coming soon.
Disneyland Resort also announced along with their reopening plans that: “Certain experiences that draw large group gatherings – such as parades and nighttime spectaculars – will return at a later date. While character meet and greets will be temporarily unavailable, characters will be in the parks in new ways to entertain and delight guests.”
This leaves a lot of guests wondering — How can we enjoy our Disney Parks vacation without these experiences? Don’t fear because there are plenty of other experiences that both Disney World and Disneyland have to offer which will allow Guests to still soak up the magic! Here is a list of ideas for you to experience on your next Disney vacation.
Of course, both Walt Disney World and Disneyland are filled with a ton of unique and thrilling attractions — fun for all ages. Spend your day hopping from Adventureland to Fantasyland to Tomorrowland and hitting all of your must-do’s at the parks!
Calling all foodies — There are so many quick service locations, sit down restaurants, and snack stand located throughout the parks. A fun way to keep busy is to try new snacks, new restaurants, and new food items that you have never tried in the past! Make a list of snacks or restaurants you have always wanted to try and make this happen on your next Disney vacation.
One of my all time favorite things to do in the parks is to people watch! After you grab that new snack, or even for those over 21 years of age, an alcoholic beverage, find a spot within the parks and sit down to relax.
This is also a great way to just take in the beautiful and unique atmosphere surrounding you. From the background music to Mother Nature, I promise you will realize that there truly is no better place to be than the Disney Parks!
Other Unique Experiences
Inside the Magic recently spoke with Walt Disney World’s Guest Services directly to ask them the question if the Dapper Dans will be back on Main Street, U.S.A. when the Magic Kingdom reopens on July 11. Their response:
“We are temporarily pausing on some experiences like parades, nighttime spectaculars, character meet and greets and makeovers to accommodate social distancing. However, our characters will still be in the parks to entertain and delight our Guests. The Dapper Dan’s will hopefully perform still however I can not guarantee it.“
Disneyland Resort also stated:
“While character meet and greets will be temporarily unavailable, characters will be in the parks in new ways to entertain and delight guests.”
So, even though we aren’t sure exactly what either Disney World or Disneyland plans on doing with their characters, Disney Parks have confirmed that the Disney characters will still be in the parks to entertain and delight the Guests! So be sure to keep your eyes peeled for these fun and unique experiences once the parks reopen.
More On Disney Changes
Another one of the changes happening is the cancellation of FastPass+ selections, which is making some nervous about their upcoming Disney vacation. Walt Disney World announced that all FastPass+ selections will be removed from guest accounts through the end of 2020 and that all FastPass+ reservations will be suspended moving forward.
The ability to make FastPass+ selections has also been completely removed from My Disney Experience app. But that doesn’t mean your Disney vacation will be ruined!
We hope that these tips and tricks help you enjoy your Disney vacation without these experiences. What are your tips and tricks? Let us know in the comments.
