We just received word that Walt Disney World Resort will continue to cancel dining reservations and booked FastPass+ through the end of 2020 as they navigate the capacity of the theme parks after they reopen mid-July.

As the phased reopening for Walt Disney World comes closer, there are more questions as to what the best way to plan for a Disney trip is especially if you have an existing trip planned.  After speaking with a Disney Travel Representative, here are a few notes to keep in mind as you navigate some of the amenities and experiences.

Just a few days ago, we got a reservations update that all existing dining reservations and FastPass+ for upcoming vacations would be automatically canceled by Disney. A representative stated that Disney is working on canceling these dining and FastPass+ bookings through the end of this year. This is to help manage new social distancing protocols and procedures in your Disney experience.

So when can we resume with booking dining reservations and FastPass+?  Though these experience bookings are currently paused and existing reservations will be canceled through the end of the year, we don’t know if we will be able to start booking dining reservations as Walt Disney World starts to reopen.

A Disney Travel Representative told us today that dining reservations and FastPass+ will not be back in the foreseeable future due to the limited capacity when Walt Disney World reopens with Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom on July 11th and Disney’s Hollywood Studios on July 15th.  We were given the advice to stay up-to-date with Disney’s announcements closer to July when the theme park reopens.

Once dining reservations do become available to us again, they will be bookable 60 days in advance.  This is a little different from the previous advance dining reservation of booking dining reservations for 180 days in advance.  As experiences are not as easy to plan for with circumstances changing constantly, this will help to allow guests to plan a little closer to the time of their trip.

For guests who have existing Disney vacation reservations, Disney is sending out notifications on these dining and FastPass+ cancellations on existing reservations.  Although, it may be disappointing to have your pre-existing plans change, you can always work with Disney and your travel agent to work through your options for magical experience bookings.

Remember to keep an eye out on Walt Disney World’s website, Disney Parks Blog, and of course Inside the Magic for more updates. We will also do our best to keep you informed as updates come for dining reservations, the Disney Dining Plan, and FastPass reservations.
