It would appear that, following a viral incident, Disney has abruptly modified one of its most recent offerings at Magic Kingdom.

Countless memories have been created at Walt Disney World Resort since its opening in 1971. The Orlando-based Disney Resort is home to wonderful and magical experiences for the young and the young at heart to enjoy, including iconic rides and attractions, mesmerizing firework shows and nighttime spectaculars, unique parades and live shows, and more.

Unfortunately, not everything is faith, trust, and pixie dust at the Most Magical Place on Earth.

Between the ongoing legal and political battle between Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and The Walt Disney Company and an increasing number of incidents triggered by unruly guest behavior taking place at the parks, some have pointed out that Disney World is losing its magic in the middle of the Disney100 celebrations, commemorating The Walt Disney Company’s 100 years of wonder.

Last month, Inside the Magic reported on a Disney adult causing a scene at Disney World and online after voicing her complaints regarding her experience while meeting Mirabel Madrigal from Disney’s Encanto (2021), arguing that the character is originally Colombian, “so she should know how to speak Spanish.”

The video gained traction online, but viewers’ responses were not what the original poster would have expected, commenting that guests wouldn’t expect Belle to be fluent in French or Mulan to speak Mandarin and that the guest made the experience more complicated than it needed to be by putting the character performer in a difficult spot.

The woman who posted the video commented that despite being upset by the experience, she “tried to stay calm and not make the girl feel bad, which, obviously, you could see on her face that she was scared, like, ‘They caught me. I don’t know how to speak Spanish, only certain words.’”

Any repercussions against the Disney World cast members are unknown. Still, following the viral incident, it would appear that Disney has made a tremendous effort to improve the experience, as a guest recently exposed.

TikTok user @viajacongrety posted a video on the social media platform a few days ago, sharing her magical experience while meeting Mirabel, sharing her surprise after finding out that the exceptionally unexceptional Madrigal was fluent in Spanish, carrying out the whole interaction in Spanish after hearing that the guest was visiting from Mexico.

While the audio in the video makes it hard to understand the whole conversation over the music that was playing at the new meet and greet location in Magic Kingdom, Mirabel and the guest talked about their favorite foods, where each of them was from, with Mirabel explaining that she lived in the Encanto, and the character’s excitement after finding out that the guest spoke Spanish. It is true that Disney characters “are friends” with multiple Disney character performers, and with Disney World being home to a diverse community of cast members and guests, it’s no surprise that Disney quickly tried to rectify the unpleasant experience mentioned above by having a bilingual cast member take the mantle of Mirabel Madrigal at Magic Kingdom.

However, Disney has not released any official information regarding this change becoming permanent. While Mirabel may be able to have some conversations in Spanish at times, guests should not expect Mirabel Madrigal to speak perfect Spanish during their interactions with her at Magic Kingdom and should definitely not have negative reactions if she can’t speak the language when they visit her.

Following Encanto’s smashing success, Disney is finally ready to go full steam ahead in bringing new experiences inspired by the movie to Disney Parks.

While some might be sad to see Dinoland U.S.A. near its extinction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, Disney is gearing up to completely retheme the immersive area, bringing attractions inspired by the Indiana Jones franchise and Encanto to the park in an all-new tropical area.

Additionally, Inside the Magic reported on Disney launching a casting call seeking character performers to play Luisa Madrigal, opening the door to members of the LGBTQIA+ community to help bring the beloved character to life.

If you haven’t had the chance to meet Mirabel in her new meet and greet location in Fairytale Garden at Magic Kingdom’s Fantasyland, Disney describes the experience as follows:
