Disney fans who are familiar with Disney Cruise Line know that, upon boarding their cruise ship, they can find their rotational dining details printed on their Key to the World cards.

Now that Disney Cruise Line has unveiled its new Navigator app, however, this longstanding tradition is about to change. According to details from Disney:

Beginning Friday, 10/1/21, Guest dining rotations will no longer be printed on Key To The World cards.

Once onboard the ship, Guests will be encouraged to check the My Plans section of their Disney Cruise Line (DCL) Navigator App for all dinner details, including their restaurant rotation, arrival time, table number, menus and recommended attire.

When Guests arrive for dinner, Servers will recommend Guests have their App open so they are able to quickly and easily take the Guests to their table.

Guests with questions or those who are unable to access the app may visit Guest Services or any dining location to speak with a Crew Member for assistance.

At this time, Disney has not confirmed whether or not Key to the World cards will be fully phased out in favor of the app, but the situation seems similar to how MagicBands are no longer technically “required” at Walt Disney World Resort due to the launch of the Magic Mobile portal on the My Disney Experience app.

One downside to this new process is that, for Guests who hope to leave their phones put away while they are enjoying their Disney Cruise Line vacations, the option to truly disconnect no longer really exists.
