After more than a year without sailing, Disney Crusie Line’s fleet — the Disney Dream, the Disney Fantasy, the Disney Magic, and the Disney Wonder — can officially sail out of U.S. ports again.
Yesterday, August 9, the Dreamembarked on her first official itinerary out of Port Canaveral with paying Guests, rather than test cruise volunteer Cast Members.
The return of Disney Cruise Line is great news for fans who can’t wait to hit the high seas again, but relaxation might not be as easy for some Guests as it usually is on board, because there’s a lot to remember when it comes to cruising during the pandemic era.
One notable regulation to bear in mind is that Disney will be enforcing a new port arrival time procedure, described below:
As a reminder, all Disney Cruise Line Guests and Castaway Club Members—including Platinum Members—are required to select a port arrival time before making their way to the cruise terminal. In order to promote physical distancing, Guests will not be permitted at the terminal or in parking areas before their scheduled arrival time. Guests who arrive early will be asked to return at their scheduled arrival time. When completing online check-in, the earliest time Guests will be able to select to arrive at the terminal is 1 p.m. [local time].
Previously, Disney Cruise Line Guests were allowed to arrive for their cruises at any time before departure — Guests using transportation from Walt Disney World Resort generally arrived about two hours prior to the pre-pandemic Sail Away Party.
Now, however, it is important to note that Guests must arrive at their scheduled time. They will not be allowed to remain in the terminal until their arrival window.
The Wish will be the fifth ship in the DCL fleet, joining the Disney Dream, the Disney Fantasy, the Disney Magic, and the Disney Wonder. She will be based in Port Canaveral.
