If you’re a Lucasfilm fan, there are probably few pieces of cinematic history more sacred to you than Indiana Jones’s fedora and Darth Vader’s lightsaber. Luckily for fans who have tens of thousands of dollars just lying around, these movie props (and many, many more) are about to hit the auction block.
The auction is set to be hosted by Prop Store, a leading movie memorabilia website. The Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction – Treasures From Film and Television will be held June 29 – July 1, 2021. To register for the event, which will be live-streamed, visit Prop Store’s official website.
The Indy fedora, specifically from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984), is set to bring in approximately $250,000 and is the “big ticket” item at this entertainment industry auction.
Prop Store previously auctioned off one of the fedoras Ford wore in Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981). Although the auction for this item has ended, the description is still available. It reads, in part:
Indiana Jones’ (Harrison Ford) signature fedora from Steven Spielberg’s action-adventure classic Raiders of the Lost Ark. As iconic as the character himself, the hat worn by Indiana Jones is a globally recognised cinematic treasure. Worn extensively by Harrison Ford, this fedora screen-matches numerous scenes throughout the film, and can be identified due to unique folds in the bow on the ribbon and specific wear and distressing on the felt.
Created by Herbert Johnson Hat Company, the fedora was carefully designed by costume designer Deborah Nadoolman, who worked with Spielberg and producer George Lucas to find a look that harked back to classic adventure heroes.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lucasfilm fans, in particular, have a lot to look forward to during this particular movie memorabilia sale:
Mementos from early 1980s franchise players, and their 21st-century followups, are likely the dominant nostalgia plays. Star Wars items have a strong presence: Carrie Fisher’s annotated script for Empire Strikes Back is expected to go in the $30,000 to $50,000 range while a light-up, remote control droid from Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker, could go for $80,000 to $120,000. Ewan McGregor’s and Hayden Christensen’s dueling lightsabers from Revenge of the Sith will hit the block and are expected to go for $30,000 to $50,000 each.
Furthermore, both Sith Lord Vader and Jedi Master Kenobi will require their lightsabers for the “rematch of the century” in the Obi-Wan Kenobi special event series on Disney+. Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor will reprise their respective Star Wars prequel trilogy roles.
