A devastated Disney Park guest spoke out online this week after a live streamer ruined their experience on Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. What should’ve been an awe-inspiring, remarkable first time on the Disneyland Park attraction turned into a nightmare they couldn’t wait to wake up from.

Disney live streamers are a growing population at Disneyland Park, Downtown Disney, and Disney California Adventure Park. As guests increasingly notice social media content creators filming in Disney parks, more conflicts arise. Thousands of Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort fans have begged the United States Disney theme parks to follow Tokyo Disney Resort’s lead with strict vlogging and live streaming rules that inhibit obtrusive social media stars.

Inside the Magic has reported countless controversial incidents involving Disney live streamers, vloggers, and influencers. One Disney live streamer allegedly handed a Walt Disney World Resort cast member cash on camera, nearly costing the employee her job. Another drew ire for repeatedly wearing costumes to Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, knowingly breaking the Disney Dress Code rules.

Last weekend, a Disneyland Resort guest claimed that an unknown Disney live streamer destroyed the magic of their first time on Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. The excited guest splurged for an Individual Lightning Lane so they didn’t have to wait in line for the experience. But they knew something was wrong the moment they entered the queue.

“I got stuck behind a woman who was literally livestreaming her entire walk through the queue, into the pre-ride areas, and the full ride,” said u/Embarrassed_Ferret50 on Reddit. “So phone held up in the air and typing comments to the viewers at the same time. It completely took me out of the ride, and is obviously a completely selfish thing to do to prioritize your weird obsession with social media over anyone else’s comfort.”

The situation didn’t improve when the guests boarded their attraction vehicle. The Disney live streamer ignored cast members’ instructions.

“The final [cast member] who did the seatbelt checks took pity on me, and this woman’s ignoring of my request to put her phone away, and gently reminded the woman to keep the phone down in front of her face for the ride,” the guest explained. “But WHY is this acceptable? I feel for [cast members] and know they’re not meant to be babysitters, but I can’t imagine they think the behavior is ok.”

“Is this just something we have to accept at this point??” they concluded.

Hundreds of Disney Parks fans empathized with their situation. u/forlorn_hope28 pointed out that Disney cast members will happily let guests re-ride if they politely explain that a disturbance ruined their experience. However, they also acknowledged that the first time on an attraction is irreplaceable.

“There’s something magical about the first ride,” they wrote. “It’s a completely brand new experience and it sucks when that experience is ruined by entitled and selfish individuals. You can ride again, and it’ll be great because that ride requires several ride throughs to take it all in, but you can’t replicate that first time.”
