Forget Flight of Passage or TRON Lightcycle/Run, this year, guests are lining up for a new kind of attraction. Guests at Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts have been lining up early at both entrances to the Stormalong Bay pool complex, sparking curiosity among visitors. One guest took to social media to ask, “Why are people rope dropping the Stormalong Bay pool today? I just walked by two lines at both entrances. I do see they were decorating the place. But maybe the 4th is a pool day 😂

The answer likely lies in a combination of two factors: the recent reopening of the Stormalong Bay pool slide and the celebratory atmosphere of the 4th of July.

A Busy Day at Stormalong

After a six-month refurbishment, the Stormalong Bay pool complex officially reopened on June 17, 2025, offering guests access to its expansive sand-bottom pool, lazy river, and whirlpool spas . The slide, however, remained closed for maintenance.

Fast forward to July 3, 2025, when Disney announced that the Shipwreck Pool’s Slide had reopened to guests. This reopening likely contributed to the increased interest and early arrivals at the pool on Independence Day.

4th of July Begins

Additionally, the 4th of July holiday naturally draws more guests to resort pools, as families look to relax and enjoy the day. The combination of the slide reopening and the holiday festivities created the perfect storm for a poolside celebration.

For those planning to visit, it’s advisable to arrive early to secure a spot, as the reopening of the slide and the holiday have made Stormalong Bay a popular destination.
