The upcoming sequel Jurassic World Rebirth (2025) will be the seventh installment in the iconic film series, following Jurassic Park (1993), The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997), Jurassic Park III (2001), Jurassic World (2015), Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018), and Jurassic World Dominion (2022), which collectively grossed over $6B worldwide.
Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) icon Scarlett Johansson will lead an all-new cast in the film in a plot that involves “a top-secret mission to secure genetic material from the world’s three most massive dinosaurs” across “land, sea, and air,” a mysterious third InGen island, and “a sinister, shocking discovery that’s been hidden from the world for decades.”
Rebirth is being directed by Gareth Edwards (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) and written by Jurassic Park and The Lost World scribe David Koepp. Jurassic World trilogy producers Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley and Jurassic Park III—Dominion executive producer Steven Spielberg (and director of the first two films) have also returned to the fold.
With a scheduled release of July 2, 2025, anticipation for the film is now ramping up. But Rebirth isn’t the only Jurassic sequel in development. Since 2015’s epic blockbuster Jurassic World relaunched the then-dormant franchise, Jurassic has expanded into various forms of entertainment media, including books, video games, television shows, and exhibitions.

As such, Jurassic sequels are no longer exclusively bound to the film series. In fact, it’s currently sequels galore for the franchise, as the animated series Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Season 2 recently premiered on Netflix, while two other follow-ups are in the works: a third “Jurassic World Evolution” installment and “Jurassic Park: Survival.”
Both entries are video games, which proves that the Jurassic franchise knows no bounds. They’re also both sequels, however, as the “Evolution” series is park management simulation-focused, all eyes are currently on the upcoming first-person action-adventure game subtitled “Survival,” as it’s set just 24 hours after the events of 1993’s Jurassic Park.
Players will assume the role of InGen scientist Dr. Maya Joshi, who was “unable to evacuate Isla Nublar.” Now, with the park’s dinosaurs running free, Joshi must rely on her wits, ingenuity, and all the available resources to survive. But while fans can expect to see several iconic dinosaurs from the film, what about other well-known characters?
Though there will likely be some surprises in store, we can safely rule out seeing the likes of Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler, Ian Malcolm, John Hammond, Lex Murphy, and Tim Murphy seeing as they escape the island by chopper at the end of the film (unless we get some sort of “recap” sequence at the start of the game). As for other human characters, never say never.

It’s possible the likes of deceased characters such as Dennis Nedry and Ray Arnold will make an appearance, whether it’s Joshi discovering their gruesome remains, or in the form of archive video footage (or maybe there’ll be a mini bonus game similar to 2014’s “Alien: Isolation,” which allows you to briefly play as Ripley in a small game based on the 1979 film).
But for now, no human characters have been confirmed to appear. As for non-human characters that aren’t dinosaurs, though, one was revealed in a series of screenshots from the game that Universal and Saber Interactive shared in a Q&A with IGN earlier this year.
That character is the InGen/Jurassic Park mascot Mr. DNA — the in-universe cartoon character whose body is a strand of DNA, complete with two arms, eyes, and a mouth, created to explain the miracles of cloning the dinosaurs at Jurassic Park.
In the 1993 film, Mr. DNA appears during a short documentary that Alan Grant (Sam Neill), Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern), Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum), and Donald Gennaro (Martin Ferrero) are invited to watch at the Jurassic Park Visitor Center’s movie theater.
The screenshot in question is of that theater, where Mr. DNA can be seen on the theater screen. The Visitor Center’s movie theater will be one of many iconic locations from the film that have already been confirmed by the game’s developers.
