It’s been a wild week for the Disney theme parks. On Sunday, a man stripped naked and swam on “it’s a small world” at Disneyland Park. The man was carried out of Disneyland Resort and charged with indecent exposure and abuse of controlled substances. Across the world, a Disney cast member broke up a brawl between two Disney Characters.
Disney Character Performers bring the magic to life at Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort, Disneyland Paris Resort, Shanghai Disneyland, Hong Kong Disneyland, and Tokyo Disney Resort. These entertainment cast members are trained to embody their assigned characters’ personalities, whether they match them in physical appearance or don a fuzzy costume.

Last week, two characters at Disneyland Park (Paris) really got into the spirit of their respective films. Disneyland Paris Resort guest Charlotte (@charlottegrsl on TikTok) shared this video of Captain Jack Sparrow and Captain Hook engaged in an intense sword fight:

Dozens of guests watched in awe as the two pirates dueled, though their battle was short-lived. Eventually, multiple Disney character attendants stopped the fighting.
The video garnered thousands of views and likes. Many commenters cherished the display of the immersion and magic that make the Disney theme parks unique.
“This is why you gotta love Disney,” said @geadom22.

Luckily, this sword fight was all in good fun. Unfortunately, other Disney Characters haven’t been so lucky.
In October, Clarabelle Cow was walking in a parade on Main Street, U.S.A., at Disneyland Park (Paris) when a brawl broke out among spectators. The tussling guests barely missed the Disney Character Performer, who subtly signaled for help before continuing her route.
In another incident at Disneyland Park, Minnie Mouse was taking photos with children when an adult woman barged past the waiting crowd. She grasped tightly to Minnie’s wrist in what seemed to be an attempt to take the character’s bracelet and almost knocked the Character Performer over. Luckily, a nearby Character Attendant successfully separated the pair and escorted the woman away.

Never touch a Disney Character Performer without their full attention and permission. Though they aim to make guests happy, the people underneath the Disney Characters still have bodily autonomy and must consent to physical interactions.
