The Spider-Verse has been a playground for Sony and Marvel. It’s the perfect vehicle to bring in Spider-Folk from all over Marvel Comics. It only makes sense! The Multiverse and one of the most popular superheroes of all time is a winning combination. This next installment promises a few shocking appearances, though!

Inside the Magic has already reported on a fraction of the huge number of Spider-People reported to be involved in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023), but that number just keeps growing! Fans who have seen promotional images for the film will know why that’s the case, with just one poster showcasing dozens of Spider-Heroes

In early developments alone, Sony and Marvel have confirmed that Pavitr Prabhakar/Spider-Man India, Spider-Punk/Hobart Brown (Daniel Kaluuya), and Ben Reilly/Scarlet Spider are all making appearances in at least a cameo capacity, as well as Issa Rae’s Jessica Drew/Spider-Woman, Oscar Isaac’s Miguel O’Hara/Spider-Man 2099, Peter B. Parker (Jake Johnson), and Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld) playing a major role, including Peter B. Parker’s (Johnson) daughter, Mayday Parker. Each will act either as friends to the protagonist, Miles Morales (Shameik Moore), or antagonists to the same!

Now, something that has long been rumored may just have been confirmed. For months now, rumblings have been going through the fan community that Tom Holland’s Peter Parker would make an appearance as yet another Spider-Man in the sequel, and this new report just adds more fuel to the fire.

According to The Direct, industry insider Jeff Sneider has just disclosed that not only will Holland reprise his role for the new Spider-Verse sequel, but that his appearance won’t be an animated one either!

“I’d heard that part of the delay of [Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse] was about getting Tom Holland in that movie and that one of the dimensions that Miles could end up going to is a live-action dimension with Tom Holland’s [Spider-Man].”

Though it isn’t a solid confirmation, this news, coupled with other reports, makes for a compelling case! It would stand to reason if Sony is planning on exploring each iteration of Spider-Man, which it seems they are, why wouldn’t they want to include such a popular take on the character as ones fans have seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

The question is: will this appearance have any effect on Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Will Miles Morales (Moore) make an appearance in a live-action Marvel Studios film? Or will this interaction be limited to a one-time cameo? As always, fans will just have to wait and see.
